According to the State Border Service data, in January 2023 Azerbaijan received 119,1 thousand or 1,6 times more foreigners and stateless persons from 131 countries of the world compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 33,8 percent of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 21,1 percent – Türkiye, 9,3 percent – Iran, 5,6 percent – Georgia, 3,4 percent – India, 3,2 percent – United Arab Emirates, 2,7 percent –Pakistan, 2,1 percent – Kuwait, per 1,8 percent – Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, 1,5 percent – Ukraine, per 1,2 percent – Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus, 10,1 percent – were citizens of other countries. 77,7 percent of the arrivals were men and 22,3 percent were women.

In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals from Pakistan increased by 9,9 times, India – 8,6 times, Turkmenistan – 5,0 times, Uzbekistan – 5,0 times, Belarus – 3,6 times, China – 3,1 times, Kazakhstan – 3,0 times, Kuwait – 2,9 times, Oman – 2,2 times, Israel – 2,1 times, United Arab Emirates – 1,9 times, Georgia – 1,6 times, USA – 1,6 times, Russian Federation – 1,5 times, Great Britain – 47,6 percent, Türkiye – 40,7 percent, Ukraine – 19,8 percent, Iran – 15,6 percent.

Compared to January 2022, the number of arrivals from the CIS countries increased by 1,6 times and amounted to 49,0 thousand persons, from EU member countries increased by 1,6 times and amounted to 4,3 thousand persons, from Gulf countries it increased by 29,3 percent and amounted to 21,3 thousand persons.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 21,9 percent compared to January 2022 and amounted to 109,3 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Georgia increased by 1,6 times, Türkiye – 18,4 percent, Iran – 13,0 pecent, Russian Federation – 2,7 percent. 38,2 percent of the country citizens traveled to Türkiye, 21,7 percent – Russian Federation, 10,5 percent – Georgia, 9,0 percent - Iran and 20,6 percent to other countries. 69,2 percent of the travelers were men and 30,8 percent were women.
