On 8 December Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee has met with Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Azerbaijan Mr. Hisham Mohamed Nagy Abdel Hamid.

Mr. Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee welcomed Mr. Abdel Hamid and wished success in his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the Committee gave detailed information about the successful socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the background of complex political and economic processes taking place in the world, emphasized the constant development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt in political, cultural and other fields, spoke about the measures taken by the State Statistical Committee towards its activities, the reforms related to the improvement of the National Statistical System, and brought to the attention the importance of active international cooperation.

Mr. Abdel Hamid, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Azerbaijan thanked Mr. Tahir Budagov for the warm meeting. The ambassador spoke about the friendly and diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt and noted that up to now about 60 cooperation agreements have been signed between the two countries and stressed the importance of continuing such close relations in the future.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between the statistical agencies of the two countries.
