Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Tahir Budagov met with delegation led by Vice Commissioner of Statistics Korea

On November 23 Chairman of the State Statistical Committee met with delegation led by Vice Commissioner of Statistics Korea.

The meeting focused on the issues arising from the “Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of statistics between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Statistics Korea” approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 February 2020, as well as work done in 2021 on improvement of ASIS - “Azerbaijan Statistical Information Service” established in 2018 with support of Statistics Korea, administrative database consulting, establishing E-learning system, the prospects for future cooperation were discussed. The Chairman of the Committee informed about the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan during recent years in the field of official statistics, noted that cooperation with Statistics Korea, which has more experience in statistical data production, especially in the data dissemination process created new opportunities for the State Statistical Committee, and specified that the launch of ASIS in Azerbaijan, its development for the purpose to create databases accompanied by metadata on a single platform in the system of official statistics, present them to users in accordance with modern dissemination standards is of a great importance. He mentioned that the measures envisaged for the projects implemented during the previous years, as well as the creation of a training room at the State Statistical Committee, development of statistical training modules, training of more than 30 employees of the Committee in Korea had a positive impact on the strengthening statistical human capacity in Azerbaijan, he expressed the confidence that the tasks set in the Memorandum will be successfully fulfilled.

Vice Commissioner of Statistics Korea Kwang Sup Kim expressed his gratitude to Tahir Budagov for the sincere meeting and noted that relations between the organizations are built in the spirit of fruitful cooperation.
