Workshops on Air related Indicators, 9th session of the Joint Task Force on Environmental Indicators, 15th session of the Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment held on 3-7 November, 2014 in Geneva.
Representative from State Statistical Bodies and Ministry of Ecology of CIS countries, as well as Georgia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Finland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, European Agency on Environment, Interstate Statistical Committee of CIS, Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia and Moldova and other international organizations were participated in the workshops. The Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by Head of Sector on Ecology, Forestry and Fishing Statistics of the Department of Agricultural and Environment Statistics of the State Statistical Committee – R. Lazimova.
Following issues were discussed during the workshops: Adoption of the agenda; Adoption of the reports of the seventh and eighth sessions; Implementation of recommendations for production and online sharing of environmental indicators: (a) Emission of pollutants into the atmospheric air; (b) Ambient air quality in urban areas; (c) Consumption of ozone-depleting substances; (d) Greenhouse gas emissions;(e) Biochemical oxygen demand and concentration of ammonium in rivers; (f) Nutrients in freshwater; (g) Protected areas; (h) Waste generation; Selection of additional indicators from the Indicator Guidelines for production and online sharing; Further revision of the Indicator Guidelines and other business.
