Training Course on “Use of Administrative Registers in Production of Statistics”, Warsaw, Poland
Representatives of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan T. Ajalov Deputy Head of Department on Coordination of Statistical Works and T. Mammadova – Leading Adviser of the same Department participated in the Training Course on “Use of Administrative Registers in Production of Statistics” organized by EFTA and Central Statistical Office of Poland on 14-17 October, 2014 in Warsaw, Poland. The main purpose of the course was an overview of principles and best practices for producing statistics based on administrative sources. Following topics were discussed during the course: Management of base registers, combined use of data from registers, quality issues & assessments. 21 experts from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan, Poland, Armenia and Mongolia participated in the course.
The agenda of the course consisted of following topics: the registered-based approach; Why register-based statistics, definitions of basic concepts, general preconditions, requirements to data from administrative sources; management of base registers, how to manage units and variables in base registers; from administrative data to statistics; editing, use of multiple sources, establishing a register-based statistical system; combined use of data from registers and sample surveys; examples from population and housing censuses; quality issues; quality assessments, metadata, coordination; presentation by the national statistical institute of Poland on their experience and use of registered based information in the production of official statistics.
During the course participant countries presented presentations on above mentioned topics.
At the end of the training course participants were awarded with the certificate.
