Meeting of the Group of Experts on Consumer Price Indices held in Geneva

Representative of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Gasimzade – Head of Department of Price Statistics participated in the Meeting of the Group of Experts on Consumer Price Indices organized by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the International Labour Office (ILO) held on 26-28 May, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Experts of national statistical bodies of United States of America, Australia, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Island, Luxemburg, Marrakesh, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Thailand, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Japan, China, New Zealand, South Africa, Israel as well as, representatives of the European Central Bank, ILO, Eurostat, ECO, FAO, CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre, Tbilisi State University, University of British Columbia, University of Tokyo participated in the meeting.
First day of the meeting 2 working sessions were carried out. It was carried out presentations on 2 themes (core inflation and quality changes and the role of Hedonics) in each working session. Presentation on core inflation was presented by CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, IMF, State Statistical Committee of Ukraine and Central Statistical Bureau of Norway, presentation on quality changes and the role of Hedonics was presented by New Zealand, Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland.
The 2nd and the 3rd day of session was fully covered themes on update of the 2004 CPI Manual; methodological issues; price collection methods; difficult to measure products and services; system of price indices and Management.
At the end of the meeting agenda of the meeting will be hold in 2016 was discussed and proposals on future activities was adopted.
