Workshop on the Implementation and Links between the Systems of National Accounts 2008 and the Government Finance Statistics Manual in Istanbul, Turkey

Deputy Head of the Department of National Accounts and Macro-economic Indicators Statistics – M. Maharramova participated in the Workshop on the Implementation and Links between the System of National Accounts 2008 and the Government Finance Statistics Manual organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) jointly with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the European Commission (Eurostat) in Istanbul, Turkey with the support of the Turkish Statistical Institute on 20-22 November, 2013.
43 experts of National Statistical Bodies and Ministries of Finance of Caucasus, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia countries as well as, representative of Intergovernmental Statistical Committee of the CIS participated in the workshop.
The purpose of the Workshop was to discuss the main challenges in the production of national accounts and government finance statistics in the participating countries with a view of formulation of priorities and plans for improvement of the government sector statistics.
The main agenda items were included: The 2008 SNA, 2010 ESA and GFSM 2012: relevance and policy needs; Implementation of the 2008 SNA and GFSM in the region: country reports and presentation of main challenges and priorities for future work; Plans for the implementation of the 2010 ESA and GFS in the European Statistical System; Linkages between national accounts and government finance statistics; Discussion on specific topics: Sector classification and general government Delineation, recording of certain transactions, etc.; Conclusions and road map for future work.
