Seminar on “Global assessments and peer reviews - follow-up and next steps” held in Alushta, Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Rauf Salimov and Head of sector of the Department on Coordination of Statistical Works – Farhad Aliyev participated in the Seminar on “Global assessments and peer reviews - follow-up and next steps” held in Alushta, Ukraine on 25-27 June, 2013. This seminar was designed for directors-general and heads of the international departments.
The Seminar was organized by three international organizations - Free Trade Association (EFTA), Eurostat and the UNECE. Heads and high-ranking representatives of Azerbaijan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kirgizstan, Libya, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Tunis, Ukraine, Belarus, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Marrakech, Norway, Palestinian, Sweden, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as, Chairman of Interstate Statistical Committee of CIS, representatives European Free Trade Association, Economical Commission of Eurasia, Eurostat, UNECE and World Bank participated in the seminar.
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss key findings and good practices concerning the institutional organisation of national statistical systems and their capacity to produce and disseminate official statistics according to international and European standards; share experiences on the implementation of improvement recommendations related to the institutional environment as well as to the production processes, output, dissemination and quality aspects; evaluate the programme through exchange of views among participating countries, experts and donors; map out common and specific needs and establish a roadmap for focused and coordinated future actions.
