Participation of the Chairman of the State Statistical Committee - Arif Valiyev in the 60th plenary session of Conference of European Statisticians organized in Paris.

     The Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Arif Valiyev and Deputy Head of Labour Statistics Department - Nemat Khuduzade were participated in the 60th plenary session of Conference of European Statisticians jointly organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the UN Economic Commission for Europe in Paris on the 6-8 June, 2012.
     The plenary session was held at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Conference Centre and representatives of national statistical offices of 55 Europe and other world countries, as well as, representatives of the European Commission, European Free Trade Association , International Labour Organization, International Monetary Fund, Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development , United Nations Industrial Development Organization and United Nations Statistics Division were participated in the plenary session.
     The three day event was about the results on session of Statistical Commission of UN held in February of current year and according to the recommendations of the CES Bureau was presented a short overview of the activities of the 5 United Nations Regional Commissions.
     During the conference study of common problems and their solutions on censuses and discussions for the organization of exchange of experience, adoption on creation of special commission by the purpose of receiving demanded quality during censuses to be held in the next 10 years, as well as, implementation of "Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics"? and issues on coordination of national statistical systems were discussed. By the purpose of giving special attention to the importance of fundamental principles was decided sending of official letters to the governments of member states of UNECE by the name of the Executive Committee of UNECE.
     During the conference commitments undertaken by UNECE on implementation of Statistical Program 2011-2012 was approved and endorsed the plans for the rest of 2012, including the list of planned meetings; the draft programme of work of the Statistics subprogram for 2012-2013, including the Biennial Evaluation Plan for 2012-2013 was also approved.
     According to the inquiry of comments on topics of plenary session 2013 the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan sent its proposals to the UNECE Statistical Division on "Measuring of sustainable development"? and "Main indicators of development"? and preparation and presentation of reports on these topics were approved.
     After all discussions topics on main issues concerning statistical system and comments of participants for plenary session should be hold in 2013 on Conference of European Statisticians were approved and report on the results of 60th plenary session was also approved.
     The Chairman of the State Statistical Committee presented his report on "role of Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics in the system of statistics of Azerbaijan"? and participated in the discussions of daily topics.
