Participation of representative of the State Statistical Committee in the International Conference organized in the Republic of Georgia on Policies and Programmes to Support Small Farmers

Representative of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan head adviser of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Statistics Vugar Valiyev was participated in the international conference organized on 21-22 March, 2012 in Tbilisi by FAO and EU. Seminar was on "Policies and Programmes to Support Small Farmers"?. The objective of the Conference is to increase awareness and understanding of policy options available to support small farmers' organizations in Georgia, based on experience in selected European countries. Discussions during the Conference are expected to provide inputs to the on-going formulation of the Agricultural Development Strategy for Georgia and its implementation and will contribute to ideas and concepts for policies and programmes to support farmers' organizations in Georgia and other participating countries. In the conference COPA/COGECA, Mersy Crops organizations representing the interests of the farmers in Europe and representatives of FAO on Georgia expressed their opinion on works and researches were done by them in Georgia. Representatives of Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova and Serbia were presented wide presentations on works carried out in this sphere. In recent years the development of non-oil sector mainly agriculture by the State were made this area more interesting for the producers of agricultural products. Our representative gave wide information to the conference participants. The information was about the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on assistance to the legal and natural persons producing agricultural products - providing them with the used petrol and motor oil for per hectare arable land also about 50 percent of payments of mineral fertilizers by the state, soft loan credits for persons engaged in owner activity, as well as, about the law project discussing at the moment in the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on creation of credit, production and sale cooperatives.
