Foreign trade relations

On January 2020 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 133 countries of the world, goods were exported to 71 countries and imported from 124 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country on January 2020 made 2372,3 million USD, including export value – 1651,4 million USD or 69,6%, import value – 720,9 (30,4%) million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 930,5 million USD. In comparison with January 2019 foreign trade turnover decreased in actual price by 5,5 percent, in real terms by 18,1 percent, including import – 45,0 percent, export increased by 0,5 percent.

On January 2020 non-oil products value- 140,8 million USD were exported from the country, in actual terms 2,5 percent, in real terms 5,8 percent more compared to the January 2019.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 53,6 percent of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 8,5 percent – Israel, 5,8 percent - Turkey, 4,4 percent – Tunisia, 4,0 percent – Ukraine, 3,1 percent Czech Republic, 2,8 percent –Portugal, 2,4 percent – Germany, 2,3 percent – Russia, 2,2 percent – Austria and Spain, 1,9 percent – France and Croatia, 1,8 percent – Greece, and the rest 3,1 percent - other countries.

The share of goods sent to Russia (34,3%), Turkey (23,5%), Switzerland (12,1%), Georgia (6,0%), China (4,2%), Italy (2,9%), Ukraine (2,2%), Brazil (2,2%), Germany (1,6%), Kazakhstan (1,3%), Greece (1,2%), and Iran (1,0%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil products.

16,2 percent of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 15,8 percent - China, 14,1 percent – Turkey, 6,1 percent – Germany, 4,1 percent - USA, 3,9 percent – Turkmenistan and Italy, 3,5 percent – Ukraine, 3,3 percent – Iran, 2,6 percent – UK, 1,9 percent – France, 1,8 percent – Korea and Japan, 1,3 percent – Mexico, 19,7 percent - other countries.

On January 2020 compared to January 2019 export of main types of products like vegetable oils increased by 9,3 times, fruit and vegetable cans – 1,8 times, fruit and vegetable juice – 1,7 times, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 3,9 times, potato – 17,3%, polyethylene – 1,6percent, unprocessed aluminum – 5,1 percent, cotton yarn – 3,7 times, ferrous metal pipes – 25,3 percent, bentonite clay – 18,4 percent, while fresh fruit decreased by 22,7 percent, fresh vegetable – 17,0 percent,

sugar – 44,5 percent, tobacco – 67,1 percent, tea – 56,6 percent, natural grape wine and cellar – 87,3 percent, cotton fiber – 11,7 percent.

On January 2019 compared to January 2020 import of vegetable oils increased by 6,8 percent, tea – 1,9 times, butter other milk fats and pastas – 40,3 percent, fresh vegetable – 8,5 percent, motor cars – 2,5 times, steel rolling – 47,6 percent, ferrous metal corners – 2,3 times, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 1,6 times, domestic trucks – 35,8 percent, polyethylene – 30,9 percent, busses – 2,0 times,

washing machines – 42,1 percent, domestic refrigerators – 2,5 times, wheat decreased by 54,4 percent, fresh fruit – 6,4 percent, potato – 13,5 percent, poultry meat and its additional products – 10,5 percent,

beef – 12,2 percent, raw sugar and sugar – 81,1 percent, tobacco – 94,3 percent, ferrous metal pipes – 7,9 percent, rubber tires – 32,1 percent, furniture – 13,8 percent, ferrous metal corners – 48,0 percent,

mineral fertilizers – 90,6 percent, cement and cement clinker – 54,9 percent, air conditioners – 53,6 percent.
