Foreign trade relations

On January 2019 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 129 countries of the world, goods were exported to 69 countries and imported from 126 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country on January 2019 made 2504.9 million USD, including export value – 1482.2 million USD, import value – 1022.7 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 459.5 million USD. In comparison with January 2018 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 12.3%, including import – 48.3%, export decreased by 3.8%. In real terms trade turnover increased by 5.9%, including import - by 17.7% and export – 0.7%.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 34.7% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 10.0% - Turkey, 7.9% - Portugal, 6.0% - Israel, 5.5% - Czech Republic, 4.8% - India, 4.5% - Vietnam, 3.9% - Georgia, 3.8% - Russia, 3.5% - Thailand, 3.0% - Ukraine, per 2.9% - United Kingdom and Greece, 2.7% - Germany and the rest 3.9% - other countries.

11.8% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 9.0% - Turkey, 8.6% - China, 7.9% - Australia, 7.7% - Iran, 6.2% - USA, 4.6% - Belarus, 4.4% - Germany, 4.2% - Norway, 3.6% - Canada, 3.5% - Ukraine, 3.2% - Japan, 25.3% - other countries.

On January 2019 non-oil products in amount of 137.6 million US dollars have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 12.1% and real terms for 4.4% relatively to January 2018.

On January 2019 compared to the same month of 2018 export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 25.4%, fresh vegetable – 1.8%, tobacco – 21.6%, sugar – 2.4%, tea – 1.9%, natural grape wine and cellar – 1.7 times, fruit and vegetable cans – 20.5%, potato – 24.5%, cotton yarn - 2.0 times, unprocessed aluminum – 19.2%, bentonite clay – 18.8%, while export of fruit and vegetable juice decreased by 31.6%, vegetable oils – 59.7%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 63.0%, polyethylene – 21.5%, ferrous metal pipes – 60.3%, cotton fibre – 48.2%.

On January 2019 compared to January 2018 import of raw sugar and sugar increased by 2.7%, cigarette – 19.5%, vegetable oil – 52.8%, potato – 42.3%, poultry meat and its additional products – 2.2%, beef – 19.2%, fresh vegetable – 21.6%, motor cars – 2.5 times, mineral fertilizers – 1.8 times, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 21.0%, furniture – 1.7%, ferrous metal rods – 17.6%, trucks – 2.9 times, ferrous metal corners – 31.2%, domestic air conditioners – 53.8%, busses – 4.5 times, cement and cement clinker – 1.6 times, domestic refrigerator – 4.5%, while import of wheat decreased by 9.8%, fresh fruit – 2.0%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 14.6%, tea – 33.7%, ferrous metal pipes – 13.3%, steel rolling – 9.5%, rubber tyres – 8.9%, polyethylene – 4.5%, washing machine – 1.9%.
