Number of persons engaged in economy and salaries

For the state of September 1, 2018 number of employees engaged in the country economy increased by 0.9% and amounted to 1540.3 thousand person; 880.4 thousand of them were the employees of the public sector and 659.9 thousand person were the employees of the private sector.

21.3% of employees were engaged in education, 18.9% in trade; repair of transport means, 13.3% in industry, 8.5% in health and social services provided to population, 7.1% in construction, 7.0% in public administration and defense; social security, 4.6% in transport and warehouse, 3.4% in professional, scientific and technical activity, 3.2% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 1.6% in finance and insurance and 11.1% in other fields of economy.

On January-August 2018 compared to same period of last year average monthly nominal salary of employees engaged in the country economy increased by 3.1% and made 541.2 AZN. Average monthly nominal salary in the sphere of mining industry, finance and insurance, professional, scientific and technical activity, information and communication, transportation and warehousing, as well as construction was higher.
