Foreign trade relations

On January-May 2018, legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 160 countries of the world; goods were exported to 95 countries and imported from 150 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover on January-May 2018 made 12068.6 million USD, including export value – 8213.3 million USD, import value – 3855.3 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 4358.0 million USD. In comparison with January-May 2017 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 35.4%, in real by 3.1%, including export - by 2.8% and import – 3.8%.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 22.4% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 8.3% - Israel, 7.6% - Turkey, 5.8% - Taiwan (the state of China), 5.3% - Indonesia, 4.8% - Canada,  4.4% - Germany, 4.0% - Czech Republic, per 3.4% - Georgia and Russia, 3.2% - Portugal,  3.0% - India, 2.7% - USA, per 2.5% - France and Spain and the rest 16.7% - other countries.

17.4% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of import transactions with Russia, 15.8% - Turkey, 10.2% - China, 7.6% - Germany, 4.8% - USA, 4.2% - Ukraine, 3.4% - Italy, 3.0% - Iran, 2.7% - Belarus, 2.4%- United Kingdom, 28.5% - other countries.

On January-May 2018 non-oil products in amount of 667.5 million USD have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 20.1% and in real terms for 8.6% relatively to January-May 2017.

On January-May 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 export of main types of products like fresh vegetable increased by 2.1%, fresh fruit – 51.2%, potato – 33.5%, fruit and vegetable cans – 22.7%, natural grape wine and cellar – 2.6 times, polyethylene – 10.1%, unprocessed aluminum – 15.7%, cotton fibre – 4.0%, ferrous metal pipes– 12.0%, cotton yarn – 10.7%, bentonite clay – 8.5%, while export of sugar - 50.5%, tobacco – 8.9%, fruit and vegetable juice – 13.2%, tea – 19.6%, vegetable oils – 15.8%,  margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 1.6%, semifinished ferrous metals decreased by 88.5%.

On January-May 2018 compared to January-May 2017 import of wheat increased by 40.8%, vegetable oil – 41.1%, fresh fruit – 44.1%, tea – 10.9%, ferrous metal pipes – 92.6%, motor cars – 2.9 times, steel rolling – 7.6%, mineral fertilizers – 2.2 times, furniture – 2.1 times, ferrous metal rods – 16.4%, rubber tyres – 4.8%, polyethylene – 82.0%, washing machine – 55.6%, domestic air conditioners – 28.5%, trucks – 2.1 times, cement and cement clinkers – 69.1%, buses – 2.8%, domestic refrigerators – 2.4 times, while import of cigarettes decreased by 6.1%, butter, other milk fats and pastas - 2.3%, potato – 22.2%, poultry meat and its additional products – 5.6%, beef – 20.2%, raw sugar and sugar – 82.6%, fresh vegetable – 47.4%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 2.3%, ferrous metal corners – 19.6%.
