Foreign trade relations
On January-April 2018, legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 153 countries of the world; goods were exported to 94 countries and imported from 144 countries.
Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover on January-April 2018 made 9318.8 million USD, including export value – 6292.7 million USD, import value – 3026.1 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 3266.6 million USD. In comparison with January-April 2017 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 32.8%, in real by 3.3%, including export - by 2.2% and import – 5.7%.
According to the State Customs Committee data, 24.7% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 9.2% - Israel, 7.4% - Turkey, 5.5% - Indonesia, per 4.9% - Taiwan (the state of China) and Germany, 4.4% - Czech Republic, 3.7% - Canada, per 3.2% - Georgia and Spain, 3.0% - Austria, 2.9% - Portugal, 2.8% - Russia, per 2.5% - Ukraine and India and the rest 15.2% - other countries.
17.4% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of import transactions with Russia, 15.5% - Turkey, 10.1% - China, 7.8% - Germany, 4.7% - USA, 4.0% - Ukraine, 3.4% - Italy, 3.1% - Belarus, 2.9% - Iran, 2.3%- United Kingdom, 28.8% - other countries.
On January-April 2018 non-oil products in amount of 485.3 million USD have been exported and that is more in actual prices for 19.3% and in real terms for 11.4% relatively to January-April 2017.
On January-April 2018 compared to the same period of 2017 export of main types of products like fresh fruits increased by 60.7%, fruit and vegetable juice – 16.2%, potato – 2.5 times, fruit and vegetable cans – 24.3%, natural grape wine and cellar – 2.4 times, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 6.0%, polyethylene – 9.6%, unprocessed aluminum – 9.1%, ferrous metal pipes– 19.0%, cotton yarn – 32.2%, bentonite clay – 19.8%, while export of fresh vegetable – 12.8%, sugar – 42.2%, tobacco – 17.9%, tea – 6.8%, vegetable oils – 18.3%, cotton fibre – 9.6%, semifinished ferrous metals decreased by 88.5%.
On January-April 2018 compared to January-April 2017 import of wheat increased by 56.3%, vegetable oil – 60.1%, fresh fruit – 48.9%, tea – 16.6%, ferrous metal pipes – 2.2 times, motor cars – 3.0 times, steel rolling – 8.4%, mineral fertilizers – 3.4 times, furniture – 2.3 times, ferrous metal rods – 21.3%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 6.3%, rubber tyres – 7.3%, polyethylene – 63.8%, washing machine – 62.5%, trucks – 78.0%, cement and cement clinkers – 2.2 times, domestic refrigerators – 2.4 times, while import of cigarettes decreased by 10.5%, butter, other milk fats and pastas 18.1%, potato – 11.6%, poultry meat and its additional products – 13.3%, raw sugar and sugar – 81.3%, beef – 17.3%, fresh vegetable – 51.9%, ferrous metal corners – 16.7%, domestic air conditioners – 9.0%, buses – 11.5%.
