In January-February 2018, Azerbaijan received from 139 countries of the world 352.5 thousand or 12.1% more foreigners and stateless persons compared to same period of last year. 29.3% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 24.9% - Georgia, 13.8% - Turkey, 8.0% - Iran, 3.7% - the United Arab Emirates, 2.1% - Ukraine, 2.0% - Iraq, 16.1% were citizens of other countries, and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 71.0% of the arrivals were men and 29.0% were women. 52.8% of foreigners and stateless persons came to our country in January, 47.2% in February.
There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors from the Gulf countries (except Iran). Compared to January-February of last year, the number of Kuwait citizens arriving in Azerbaijan has increased for 6.0 times, Qatar – 2.6 times, Bahrain – 2.5 times, Saudi Arabia – 2.5 times, the number of citizens of Oman – 1.8 times, Iraq – 1.7 times and the number of citizens of the United Arab Emirates –1.3 times. The number of arrivals from Iran decreased to 26.7%.
Thus, in January-February 2018, the number of arrivals from EU members was equal compared to same period of last year and amounted to 11.3 thousand, and from the CIS countries increased by 4.6% and amounted to 123.0 thousand.
62.8% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 36.3% - air and 0.9% - water transport.
The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-February 2018 decreased by 3.6% and amounted 583.0 thousand persons. 32.0% of the country citizens traveled to Georgia, 26.0% - Iran, 22.4% - Russian Federation, 12.6% - Turkey, 1.9% - Ukraine, 1.4% - United Arab Emirates, 3.7% to other countries. 71.1% of the travelers were men and 28.9% were women.
In January-February 2018, 79.2% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 19.8% - air and 1.0% - water transport.
