Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in 2018

In January-March 2018, the country's automobile roads suffered a traffic accident of 376, or 7.6% less than same period of time in 2017, the number of victims of these events dropped by 11.9% and reached to 505 persons. 162 of them died and 343 of them were injured. 35.1% of accidents happened in the daytime, 37.2% - at night time, 27.7% - during twilight; 26.3% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

91.8% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents  increased by 14.3% and made 136 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 15.0% and 328 persons.

53.2% (more 2.6% compared to last year) of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 31.1% (14.6% less) - several transport means, 15.7% (21.3% less) - one mode of transport.

80.9% of died persons and 79.0% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

11 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 8 persons died,8 persons injured. 72.7% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

In January-March 2018 number of administrative violation of traffic rules compared to same period of time in 2017 increased by 5.1% and made 786.2 thousand. 50.1% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road (more than 3.6% compared to 2017), 12.6% - violation of parking regulations (12.0% more), 10.4% - continue the movement of the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign (4.4% less), 13.2% - disobedience the requirements of road signs (47.2% more), 2.6% - driving without seat belt (24.8% less) and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of 14.2 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
