In January-March 2018, Azerbaijan received from 151 countries of the world 629.4 thousand or 12.4% more foreigners and stateless persons compared to same period of last year. 27.4% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 22.1% - Georgia, 15.8% - Iran, 11.6% - Turkey, 4.7% - the United Arab Emirates, 1.9% - Ukraine, 1.8% - Iraq, 14.6% were citizens of other countries, and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 67.9% of the arrivals were men and 32.1% were women. 29.6% of foreigners and stateless persons came to our country in January, 26.4% in February and 44.0% in March. 25.8% of the arrivals who came to our country in March were from Iran, and their number was 4.6% more than compared to same period of last year.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors from the Gulf countries (except Iran) in January-March 2018. Compared to January-March of last year, the number of Kuwait citizens arriving in Azerbaijan has increased for 7.1 times, per 2.7 times Bahrain and Qatar,  Saudi Arabia – 2.4 times,  the number of citizens of Oman – 1.9 times, Iraq – 1.7 times and the number of citizens of the United Arab Emirates –1.3 times. The number of arrivals from Iran decreased to 5.3 times. The total number of arrivals from the Gulf countries has increased by 35.2% and amounted to 32.9 thousand persons.

Thus, in January-March 2018, the number of arrivals from EU members decreased by 4.1% and amounted to 18.6 thousand, and from the CIS countries increased by 6.7% and amounted to 204.4 thousand.

63.3% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 35.9% - air and 0.8% - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-March 2018 decreased by 2.4% compared to same period of last year and amounted 943.3 thousand persons. 31.6% of the country citizens traveled to Georgia, 27.2% - Iran, 21.8% - Russian Federation, 12.3% - Turkey, 1.8% - Ukraine, 1.5% - United Arab Emirates, 3.8% to other countries. 69.9% of the travellers were men and 30.1% were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 5.9%, 21.6% – Turkey,  7.4% - Georgia and the number of people going to the Russian Federation decreased by 0.1%.

79.7% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 19.4% - air and 0.9% - water transport.
