Macroeconomic indicators on economic and social
development of the country on January-September 2006

Gross Domestic Product. During January-September 2005 compared to corresponding period of previous year there were produced GDP for 34.0 per cent more or 12.7 milliard manat in actual prices. Production of GDP per capita was increased for 32.6 per cent and made 1524.3 manat (1693.3 US$). During this period there were created value added in industry in amount of 7.5 milliard manat or 58.5 per cent of GDP, in agriculture - 679.5 million manat (5.3%), in construction - 953.4 million manat (7.6%), in transport - 628.9 million manat (4.9%), in trade and public catering - 791.6 million manat (6.2%), communication - 292.6 million manat (2.3%) and other areas - 1.1 milliard manat or 8.3% of GDP, 6.9 per cent or 878.2 million manat made net taxes on product and import excluding subsidies.
Industry. During nine months of the year there were produced industrial products of 10.4 milliard manat or more for 39.2 per cent than during the corresponding period of 2005. Product output in fuel industry enterprises was increased for 46.8 per cent, including oil extraction - 49.0 per cent, oil processing - 7.1 per cent, electric-power industry - 8.1 per cent, metallurgy - 14.6 per cent, food industry - 4.9 per cent, construction materials industry - 4.0 per cent, chemical and petrochemical industry enterprises - 7.7 per cent, forestry, timber production and pulp and paper industry - 10.7 per cent, glass and porcelain-faience industry - 57.4 per cent. Product output in the state sector was raised for 3.9 per cent, non-state sector - 56.2 per cent and the share of non-state sector in gross industrial product had reached to 75.8 per cent. 69.4 per cent of industrial products were per the share of mining, 26.4 per cent - manufacture and 4.2 per cent - electric power, gas and water production and supply and level of production in the field of mining was increased for 48.9 per cent, manufacture - 7.9 per cent, electric power, gas and water production and supply - 7.4 per cent. In comparison with previous year the share of mining sector in gross industrial product had been increased for 10.3 per cent, manufacture - 8.3 per cent, electric power, gas and water production and supply - 2.0 per cent. The product of 508.0 million manat or 4.9 per cent of gross industrial products was produced by 312 joint stock companies functioning in the fields of industry.
Agriculture. Harvest of agricultural products is going on. Till 1 October 99.8 per cent of areas sown with cereals were harvested and 2075.7 thousand ton or compared to corresponding period of previous year less for 42.3 thousand ton or 2.0 per cent of products, including maize were harvested from these areas. In spite of the fact that the average productivity per hectare is higher for 0.1 centner than the level of 2005, product output was reduced due to decreasing of sown areas. As a result of decreasing of sown areas the production of other products had been also increased. And for the state of 1 October production of potatoes being decreased for 57.5 thousand ton made 878.9 thousand ton, cotton production - decreased 49.1 thousand ton and made 67.2 thousands ton per cent, production of market garden crops - decreased for 9.6 thousand ton and made 351.7 thousand ton, tobacco production - decreased for 2.0 thousand ton and made 4.0 thousand ton. In comparison with precious year vegetable production had been increased for 32.1 thousand ton and made 1076.8 thousand ton, production of fruit and berries - increased for 1.9 thousand ton and made 365.9 thousand ton, grape - increased for 2.8 thousand ton and made 63.7 thousand ton, green tea leaves - increased for 64.7 ton and made 602.3 ton. In comparison with corresponding period of 2005 head number of cattle was increased for 2.6 per cent and had reached to 2388.1 thousand head, head number of sheep and goats - increased for 2.2 per cent and reached to 7770.8 thousand head. During this period meat production in live weight being increased for 1.6 per cent and made 203.5 thousand ton, milk production - 3.8 per cent and made 998.4 thousand ton, wool production - 1.9 per cent and made 12.9 per cent, egg production was decreased because of specific reasons and made 593.9 million unit. So, livestock production was higher than the level of previous year, plant production was less for 3.0 per cent and as a result agricultural gross product was decreased for 1.0 per cent. Agricultural employees had ploughed 348.7 thousand ha of area for the product of the next year and had made autumn sowing for seed in 25.0 thousand ha of area.
Capital construction. During nine months in construction complex from financial sources the investments in amount of 4.3 milliard manat or more for 16.4 per cent compared to corresponding period of 2005. 2.6 milliard manat or 60.3 per cent of the used means made foreign investments and was increased for 0.6 per cent. At the same time amount of investment from internal sources was increased for 52.8 per cent. Volume of means spent for construction-and-assembling operations compared to the last year had been increased for 10.9 per cent and made 2.2 milliard manat. During the current year for the continuation of construction of purposeful objects 411.9 million manat or 46.7 per cent of the assigned 882.3 million manat considered in the state budget was used. During nine months of the year dwellings with total area of 766.3 thousand square meters, general educational schools with 17092 seats for pupils, hospital with 100 beds, out-patient clinic with the capacity of reception of 125 patients in a shift, Sugar Plant and Olympic Sport Complex in Imishly, gas pipeline in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with length of 326.3 km, plant processing 5 ton of dry fruits per day and producing 3 ton of halva, factory in Sheki producing 1.7 million of conditional jars per year, "Modul"? Electric Power Station in Astara region, garment factory with capacity to produce 60 thousand suit of sport clothes per year in Lenkoran regions and stadium with 15 thousand seats, other production and non-production objects were put into use.
Transport. On January-September 101.4 million ton (more for 9.4 per cent compared to corresponding period of the last year) of cargo and 783.8 million (more for 5.8 per cent) of passengers were transported by transport enterprises and natural persons acted in the field of motor transport. Transportation of freight by railway transport was increased for 22.6 per cent, by motor transport - for 6.3 per cent, sea transport - 6.6 per cent, by pipelines - 5.0 per cent; passenger transportation by motor transport was increased for 5.6 per cent, by railway transport - 0.1 per cent, by underground - 7.7 per cent, by air transport - 7.8 per cent.
Communication. Communication enterprises had provided communication services for population and department and organizations in amount of 390.8 million manat or more for 22.7 per cent compared to previous year. 76.3 per cent of communication services were directly provided for population, income from mobile phone services was increased for 22.3 per cent and had reached to 257.8 million manat and made 65.9 per cent of all incomes.
Population incomes. On January-September 2006 population incomes per capita compared to corresponding period of previous year was increased for 19.8 per cent and had reached to 888.0 manat. 70.3 per cent of the earned incomes were spent at average per capita for final consumption, 11.7 per cent - payment of taxes, social insurance and voluntary membership fees, 18.0 per cent - increasing of deposits and capital. After the payment of taxes and membership fees at average per capita 784.2 manat were kept.
Wage. On January-September average monthly wage of employees in comparison with January-September 2006 was increased for 19.9 per cent and had reached to 138.5 manat, on September compared to corresponding period of previous year it was increased for 19.2 per cent and had reached to 147.4 manat.
Trade turnover and paid services. Together with increasing of population incomes the variety and volume of consumer goods and provided services purchased from trading network are also increased. During nine months of the year consumer goods in amount of 5.1 milliard manat were sold and paid services were provided. Retail trade turnover being increased for 12.6 per cent was equal to 4.1 milliard manat, volume of paid services - increased for 40.1 per cent and was equal to 977.4 million manat. 65.1 per cent or 2.7 milliard manat of commodities purchased by population from consumer market made foodstuffs, 34.9 per cent (1.4 milliard manat) - non foodstuffs. 40.8 per cent of food products purchased by population from trading network made fruit and vegetables, 16.2 per cent - meat and poultry, 6.2 per cent - milk and diary products, 9.6 per cent - bread and bakery products, 3.2 per cent - potatoes, 5.4 per cent sugar and confectionery, 8.1 per cent - electrical products, 9.1 per cent - motor vehicles, 6.5 per cent - shoes, 21.7 per cent - oil products.
Foreign trade. On January-August 2006 there were carried out trade operations with 129 world countries in amount of 7003.4 million dollar, of which 72.8 per cent or 5095.6 million dollar were realized with distant foreign countries, including by ECO countries -145.5 million dollar (import 93 million dollar and export 52 million dollar) 1907.8 million dollar - CIS countries. Volume of trade relations with distant foreign states was increased for 45.1 per cent, CIS countries - 22.6 per cent. During eight months of the year goods of 3658.1 million dollar were exported to foreign countries, of which 84.6 per cent or 3095.4 million dollar - to distant foreign countries, 562.7 million dollar or 15.4 per cent - CIS countries. In comparison with corresponding period of the previous year volume of export was increased for 70.5 per cent, including volume of goods exported to distant foreign countries - 2.0 times. Value of goods exported to CIS countries was decreased for 10.8 per cent. In comparison with corresponding period of 2005 value of goods imported to the country was increased for 14.5 per cent and made 3345.3 million dollar, including volume of goods imported from distant foreign countries - increased for 0.2 per cent and made 2000.2 million dollar, import from CIS countries - increased for 45.4 per cent and made 1345.1 million dollar. During eight months there were created positive balance in amount of 312.8 million dollar, including distant foreign countries - 1095.2 million dollar, CIS countries - negative balance in amount of 782.4 million dollar. 61.8 per cent of import and 71.0 per cent of export were realized by free currency. On January-August humanitarian aid in amount of 26.9 million dollar was received.
Consumer prices and service tariffs. On September compared to August consumer goods prices and service tariffs had raised for 0.9 per cent, including foodstuffs prices - 1.3 per cent, non-foodstuffs - 0.3 per cent, service tariffs - 0.7 per cent. During nine months of the year compared to January-September of 2005 the prices and tariffs were raised for 7.3 per cent, including foodstuffs prices - 10.3 per cent, non-foodstuffs prices - 4.8 per cent, service tariffs - 2.4 per cent.
State budget. According to data of Ministry of Finance on January-August the funds in amount of 2.4 milliard manat were entered to the state budget and that compared to corresponding period of 2005 was more for 94.7 per cent. 66.4 per cent or 1.6 milliard manat of budget incomes were transferred by the Ministry of Taxes, 13.9 per cent (338.0 million manat) - the State Custom Committee. 491.9 million manat or 20.3 per cent of the incomes were entered from value added tax, 327.0 million manat (13.5 per cent) - profit tax, 198.4 million manat (8.2 per cent) - income tax from population, 108.6 million manat (4.5 per cent) - excise tax, 173.8 million manat (7.2 per cent) - taxes related with foreign economic activity. During eight months 2.2 milliard manat (or more for 71.1 per cent compared to corresponding period of the last year) were spent from the state budget. Profusion in amount of 272.5 million manat received as a result of budget execution made 2.6 per cent of GDP. 205.3 million manat or 9.5 per cent of budget expenditures were spent for population social defence and social security, 312.8 million manat (14.5 per cent) - education, 768.0 million manat (35.6 per cent) - development of economy. Generally, 31.6 per cent or 682.1 million manat of the state expenditures were spent for payment of wages, pensions and compensations.
Population deposits. Amount of population deposits in banks for the state of 1 September had reached to 668.4 million manat and compared to corresponding period of 2005 was increased for 47.9 per cent. Amount of deposits in foreign currency had increased for 30.5 per cent and made 519.5 million manat, national currency - increased for 2.8 times and made 148.9 million manat.
Credit Investing. The credits in amount of 1.9 milliard manat or more for 55.3 per cent compared to January-August of the last year were invested to the country economy. 939.6 million manat of credits were short-term and 937.3 million manat long-term, of which the term of payment of 3.4 per cent or 63.6 million manat is over.
