Cargo transportation in Azerbaijan side of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor was 19810,0 thousand ton and cargo turnover 3831,2 million ton-km in January- May, 2016. 12650,0 thousand ton or 63.8% of cargo was transported by automobile transport, 5345,9 thousand ton or 27.0 % by railway transport, 1814,1 thousand ton or 9,2 % by sea transport.
In comparison with 2015 volume of goods transported by the corridor decreased by 10.6%. The main reason was decreasing (correspondingly by 22.3% or 38.9%) of cargo transportation by railway and sea transport. During the indicated period, volume of cargo transportation by automobile transport increased by 2.8%.
14.6% or 2890,0 thousand ton of cargo transportation by corridor was transit cargo. In January-May 2016 there were transported 137.8 million passengers; passenger turnover made 2772,9 million passengers-km. Compared to the corresponding period of 2015 passenger transportation increased by 2.3% and passenger turnover by 1.2%.
