Demographic situation in Azerbaijan

For the state of the 1st September, 2015 number of the country population increased by 73.0 thousand person or 0.8% and reached to 9666.0 thousand person. Density of population made 112 persons for per square km. 53.1 % of population are urban, 46.9 % rural population. 49.8% of population forms men, 50.2% women. At the moment on average there are 1009 women for per 1000 men.
In recent years, the birth rate in the country remains high and during January-August of the current year number of births was more than 71.8 thousand person than deaths. Though, during 8 months of the current year 109.0 thousand or every day on average 449 infants were born and this indicator was formed 17.2 by the account of per 1000 person. 53.2% of births were boys and 46.8% girls. 1970 of infants were twins, 63 triplets.
On average 2.2 born children are per share of reproductive women in the country and that provides reproduction of population.
37.2 thousand deaths were registered during 8 months of the current year by the rural (urban) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice. Deaths by the account of per 1000 persons was remained at the same level (5.9) and not changed compared to the corresponding period of the last year.
During that period 43.9 thousand marriages and 8.6 thousand divorces were registered by the registration departments. By the account of per 1000 person number of divorces decreased from 1.4 to 1.3.
During January-August of the current year 1.8 thousand person arrivals to Azerbaijan for permanent residence and 0.7 thousand person departures from the country registered by the corresponding authorities of Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Migration Service.
