Macro-economic indicators of economic and social development of the country in January-May, 2014

During five months of 2014, in amount of 23.4 milliard manat or more than 2.8% compared to corresponding period of last year Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was produced by the enterprises and organizations operating in the country as well as, natural entities. 61.2% of GDP was created in the production output fields, 31.7% in service fields and 7.1% of it was share of net taxes for product and import. Production of GDP for per capita was formed 2499.8 manat (3187.4 USA dollars).
55.4% of value added was produced in non-oil sector and it was increased by 8.3% and it was decreased by 3.6% in oil sector.
During January-May in amount of 14.1 milliard manat or less than 2.1% compared to corresponding period of 2013 industry products were produced. 73.3 % of products were produced in mining sector, 20.5% in processing sector and 5.6% in production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, 0.6% - in water supply, treatment and processing of waste.
Production output in the non-oil sector of industry increased by 3.4% and it was decreased by 3.0% in oil sector.
Production output in mining sector decreased by 6.7% and it was increased by 2.1% in food products, 17.4% in production of clothing, 16.7% in production of construction materials, 4.7% in production of machine and equipment, 2.6 times in production of trailers, 2.8 times in production of other transport means, 29.7% in production of furniture, 18.1% in installation and maintenance of machine and equipment.
Production output of industry in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 1.7% and 9.2 milliard kWh produced electricity was higher by 3.0% compared to level of last year.
Production output in the sector of water supply, treatment and processing of waste was increased by 6.6%.
For the state of 1 June in amount of 363.3 million manat ready product had in the warehouses of industry institutions and during the last month stocks of output increased by 17.7 million manat.
Spring field activities in the agrarian sector are on the stage of compilation. Till the 1st June sowing of spring plants were carried out in sowing area with 342.5 thousand hectare, as well as, in the sowing area with 26.6 thousand hectare - grain and grain legumes, in the sowing area with 34.7 thousand hectare – maize for grain, in the sowing area with 61.5 thousand hectare – potato, in the sowing area with 73.3 thousand hectare – vegetable, in the sowing area with 21.1 thousand hectare – cotton, in the sowing area with 26.8 thousand hectare – market garden crops, in the sowing area with 5.5 thousand hectare – sugar beet, in the area with 9.8 thousand hectare – sunflower for grain, in the sowing area with 1107 hectare – tobacco have been planted.
Along with conducting spring field works the agricultural workers had begun to collect the products of their own cultivation. Till the 1st of June 40.1 thousand tons grain and grain legumes, 52.6 thousand tons potato, 77.9 thousand tons vegetable, 8.6 thousand tons fruit and berry, 220.4 tons green tea leaves were gathered.
From the beginning of the year 174.7 thousand tons live weight meat, 753.0 thousand tons milk, 638.1 million unit egg and 12.6 thousand tons wool were produced and meat production was increased by 2.1% compared to corresponding period of 2013, milk production 2.8%, egg production 12.6%, wool production 1.5%.
Thus, during five months compared to the last year more than 2.7% agricultural products were produced.
During five months in amount of 6.1 milliard manat allocations were directed for the implementation of construction works in the country from all financial sources to fixed assets and building and assembly jobs in amount of 4.4 milliard manat were implemented. Investment was increased by 6.0% compared to corresponding period of 2013 and volume of allocations spent to assembly jobs (18.3%).
4.3 milliard manat or 70.4% of allocations directed to fixed assets was share of domestic investments and it was 1.7% higher than the last year and foreign investment was 18.1% higher.
During five months total area with 622.7 thousand square metre dwellings was put into operation as well as secondary schools with 2000 places for pupils, pre-school institutions with 672 places, ambulatory-polyclinic institutions which allows serve 200 persons, in Baku city , in Baku city new administrative-academic complex of National Conservatory, new buildings of Central Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and “Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia” science center, building of National Institute of Sports Medicine, Diagnostics and Rehabilitation, Health Centre, National Gymnastics Arena, in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Arpachay -2 Hydroelectric Power Station, Water-storage Reservoir and Water Treatment Complex, Youth Centre, in Sumgait city Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Factory, Oil Factory, Copper Processing Plant, in Ganja city Metal Casting and Continuous Rolling, Pressure Processing and Dying Plants, in Agdash region Food and Fruit Processing Plants, "Aghdash" Electrical substation, in Goy-Gol region Olympic Sport Complex, Youth Centre, in Gabala region first stage of “Tufan” Alpine Skiing Summer and Winter Recreation Complex, in Shamakhi region “Shamakhi Palace Platinum By Rixos” hotel and others were put into operation.
In the current year from state budget in amount of 5339.0 million manat allocation was considered for the construction activities in the country and 2156.2 million manat of allocation was used.
During five months volume of cargo transportation by transport workers increased by 2.1% compared to last year and reached to 87.4 million tons, number of conveyed passengers increased by 5.8% and it was equal to 709.8 million persons.
In amount of 594.5 million manat or more than 12.0% compared to corresponding period of 2013 communication services were rendered to population, office and organizations by communication enterprises. 72.5% of services directly were rendered to population and it was increased by 12.6%.
During four months of 2014 in amount of 11.1 milliard manat consumer goods were sold to population and rendered paid services in the consumer and service markets. Retail trade turnover increased by 8.8% and reached to 8.3 milliard manat, volume of paid services increased by 6.7% and reached to 2.4 milliard manat. 11.7% of consumer goods were realized by legal entities, 36.8% - by fairs and markets, 51.5% - by natural entities without establishing of legal entity.
According to the data of State Customs Committee during January-April in amount of 9.9 milliard dollars trade operations were implemented with 122 foreign countries. 9.3% or 916.2 million dollars of trade relations were carried out with CIS member countries, 90.7% or 9.0 milliard dollars with other countries.
During four months in amount of 7156.2 million dollars product were exported, 222.8 million dollars of it was sent to CIS member countries, 96.9% or 6933.4 million dollars was share of customers of other foreign countries.
In this period volume of imported products to the country was formed 2734.7 milliard dollars. Value of imported products from other foreign countries was 2041.3 million dollars and 693.4 million dollars from CIS member countries.
43.5% of foreign trade turnover were carried out with European Union countries, 9.3% with CIS member countries, 47.2% with other foreign countries.
Thus, during four months volume of goods exported from the country was higher for 2.6 times than the value of goods imported to the country and in amount of 4421.5 million dollars positive balance was created.
Taking into account the data of reports received from AIOC and State Oil Company commodity turnover with foreign countries was 13.4 milliard dollars, as well as, export 10.7milliard dollars and in amount of 8.0 milliard dollars positive balance was created.
During January-April the country received in amount of 28.4 million dollars humanitarian and technical aids.
Average monthly wage/salary of employees engaged in economic and social sector during January-April increased by 6.7 % compared to corresponding period of last year and reached to 436.7 manat. Income of each country resident increased by 3.1% and reached to 1603.9 manat.
In May prices and service tariffs of consumer goods decreased by 0.8% compared to previous month, as well as the prices of food products (1.9%), prices of non-food products and service tariffs remained at the same level as the previous month. During January-May prices and service tariffs of consumer goods increased by 1.7%, as well as, prices of food products (1.5%), prices of non-food products (3.6%), service tariffs (0.3%).
According to the data of Ministry of Finance in January-April in amount of 6.5 milliard manat fund were received by the state budget and in amount of 6.1 milliard manat fund was spent and in amount of 402.6 million manat or as far as 2.2% of GDP surplus was created. 3.0 milliard manat or 49.7% of expenses of budget were directed to the development of economy, 680.4 million manat (11.2 %) social defense and social security, 544.2 million manat (9.0 %) education and health.
Sum of credits presented by financial and credit institutions reached to 16.2 milliard manat till the 1st of May and increased by 24.8% compared to the 1st of May, 2013. 12.7 milliard manat of given credits were long-term credits, 895.6 million manat - payment was expired.
Volume of deposits by population increased by 13.9% compared to the last year and reached to 6.6 milliard manat for the state of 1 May. Sum of deposits with national currency was 4.1 milliard manat and deposits with foreign currency 2.5 milliard manat.
In May average exchange rate of manat for 1 US dollar was 0.78 manat, 1 Euro – 1.08 manat, 100 Russian rouble – 2.24 manat and during January-May correspondingly it was equal to 0.78, 1.08 and 2.24 manat.
