Macro-economic indicators of economic and social development of the country in the first half of 2013

In the first half of 2013 production of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) compared to corresponding period of last year increased by 5.0% or by comparative prices 1.3 milliard manat and reached to 27.2 milliard manat. 63.9% of GDP were created in the field of production, as well as, 48.6% in industry, 10.9% in construction complex, 4.4% in agriculture. Special weight of service fields in value added was formed 29.6%, as well as, 5.5% in transport, 9.6% in trade and paid service, 1.7% in communication, 12.8% in social and other service fields. Net of tax to the product and import was formed 6.5% of GDP. On average production of GDP on per capita was 2936.3 manat (3741.9 USD).
Production of value added compared to last year increased by 10.9% in non-oil sector and it was decreased by 0.7% in oil sector.
In amount of 16.9 milliard manat industrial products were produced in the field of industry and it was increased by 0.3% compared to corresponding period of last year. 74.0% of product was produced in mining sector, 19.9% in processing sector and 5.5% in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, 0.6% in the sector of water supply, treatment and processing of waste. Compared to the first half of 2012 production output decreased by 0.9% in mining sector and it was increased by 9.0% in processing sector, 6.3% in the sector of water supply, treatment and processing of waste and it was remained at the level of the previous year in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.
Production output increased by 2.9% in non-oil sector of industry and it was decreased by 0.3% in oil sector.
From the products of mining sector oil production was formed 21.8 million tons, marketable gas production – 8.9 milliard cubic metre.
Production of food products in processing sector increased by 3.7%, production of beverage – 11.3%, leather and leather products, production of shoes – 41.0%, production of paper and cardboard - 2.6%, polygraphy activity – 66.2%, production of oil products – 10.6%, production of chemical products – 6.5%, production of pharmaceutical products – 38.6%, production of construction materials – 24.6%, production of metallurgy industry products – 21.0%, production of computer and other electronic equipments – 53.3%, production of electric equipments – 4.7%, production of automobiles and trailers – 85.0%, production of other transport means - 2.1 times, production of furniture – 12.1%, production of jewelry, music, sport and medical equipments – 1.7%, maintenance and installation of machine and equipments – 44.8%.
10.4 milliard kWh or less than 2.6% electricity was produced in the first half of the year.
Spring field activities in the agrarian sector were finished. Till the 24th of June sowing of spring plants were carried out in sowing area with 363.1 thousand hectare, as well as, in the sowing area with 33.2 thousand hectare - grain and grain legumes, in the sowing area with 38.6 thousand hectare – maize for grain, in the sowing area with 77.2 thousand hectare – vegetable, in the sowing area with 65.3 thousand hectare – potato, in the sowing area with 23.4 thousand hectare – cotton, in the sowing area with 28.5 thousand hectare – market garden crops, in the sowing area with 5.5 thousand hectare – sugar beet, in the area with 9.3 thousand hectare – sunflower for grain, in the sowing area with 1215 hectare – tobacco and others have been planted. Sowing area of spring crops decreased by 10.7 thousand hectare compared to last year, as well as, sowing area of grain and grain legumes increased by 1.5 thousand hectare, sowing area of maize for grain – 2.7 thousand hectare, sowing area of sugar beet - 1.9 thousand hectare.
Along with conducting spring field works the agricultural workers had begun to collect the products of their own cultivation. Till the 4th of June excluding maize 1607.7 thousand tons harvest were gathered. More than 783 tons harvest was gathered compared to corresponding period of last year.
274.9 thousand tons potato, 343.0 thousand tons vegetable, 80.3 thousand tons fruit and berry, 35.6 thousand tons market garden crops, 66.7 tons tobacco, 288.8 tons green tea leaves were gathered from fields. Production of potato increased by 29.1 thousand tons or 11.8% compared to the same period of 2012, production of vegetable – 27.6 thousand tons (8.8%), production of fruit and berry – 8.7 thousand tons (12.1%), production of tobacco 12.7tons (23.5%), production of green tea leaves – 11.1 tons (4.0%).
Head number of livestock increased by 1.0% compared to the corresponding period of last year and reached to 2730.7 thousand head, number of sheep and goat increased by 1.0% and reached to 8832.7 thousand head. During this period more than 3.2% or 221.5 thousand tons (in live weight) meat, more than 6.6% or 913.0 thousand tons milk, more than 14.2% or 685.4 million units egg, more than 2.6% or 15.0 thousand tons wool were produced.
Compared first half of last year production of plant-growing products was increased by 4.5%, production of cattle breeding – 5.1% and completely production of all agricultural products – 4.9%.
At the beginning of the year in amount of 7.4 milliard manat allocation were used in construction complex, its 64.9% or 4.8 milliard manat directly spent to the execution of to assembly jobs. Compared to the first half of 2012 volume of investment spent to construction works increased by 22.9%, amount of allocation directed to assembly jobs – 39.6%. 74.9% or 5.5 milliard manat of allocation directed to the fixed assets was formed domestic investments and it was increased by 18.1%.
At the result of construction works carried out in the complex some production and social facilities were given into use. During six months following production and non-production facilities were put into operation:
dwellings with total area 917.9 thousand square metre, secondary schools with 4654 places for pupils, pre-school institutions with 737 places, ambulatory-polyclinic institutions which allows serve 130 persons, club with 864 places, in Baku city - Production Union on “Ship Repair and Ship Building”, Hangar Complex and International Logistics Centre in the International Airport named by Heydar Aliyev, “Fairmont Baku” hotel at Flame Towers complex, in Sumgait city “Textile Park “Gilan”, in Absheron region - region - “Milla” Dairy Products and Ice-cream Production Factory, Disposable plastic containers and Performing Manufacturing, Buzovna-Mardakan-Gala highway, in Gobustan region – Sport Complex, in Gabala region – Cultural Centre, first phase of shooting club, dairy and livestock breeding complex, “Aspi Winery” grape processing factory ,, in Hajigabul - Ceramic tiles production plant and others.
In the current year from state budget in amount of 7031.0 million manat allocation was considered for the construction activities in the country and 3187.4 million manat of allocation was used.
During January - June 105.9 million tons cargo or more than 2.4 % compared to corresponding period of last year and 820.2 million person passengers or more than 7.7% were conveyed by natural entities engaged in the field of automobile transport and transport enterprises.
10.6% of cargos were transported by railway, 56.3% by automobile transport, 5.7% by sea transport, 27.4% by pipeline and 87.1% of passengers were conveyed by automobile, 12.7% by metropolitan.
By factual prices in amount of 707.1 million manat or more than 7.5% compared to last year communication services were rendered to population, enterprises and organizations by information and communication enterprises. 72.2% of services were directly services to population and 76.1% of received income was share of non-state sector.
In the first half of 2013 income of population increased by 7.1% compared to corresponding period of last year and reached to 15.8 milliard manat and income on per capita increased by 5.7% and reached to 1708.8 manat (284.8 manat monthly on average). 69.2% of income was used to final consumption, 9.3% - to the payment of taxes, social insurance and membership dues, 19.8 % to the growth of deposits and capitals.
Average monthly salary/wage of employees increased by 6.8% and reached to 408.8 manat. Salary/wage of persons engaged in industry, construction, transport and etc. were higher and during January-May average monthly salary-wage of persons engaged in industry was formed 635.8 manat, average monthly salary-wage of persons engaged in construction complex – 597.2 manat.
Increasing on income of population gives opportunity to buy more commodity goods from tradenetworks and widely use of services. At the result of such condition in the first half of last year retail trade turnover increased by 9.1% and reached to 9.1 milliard manat and volume of paid services increased by 7.5% and reached to 2.8 milliard manat. 52.6% of sold goods were formed food products, 47.4% - non-food products and their sale correspondingly increased by 0.4% and 21.2%.
In the first half of 2013 in amount of 1038.2 thousand manat non-food products and 73.4 thousand manat food products were sold to customers by electron trade turnover and correspondingly they were increased by 68.5% and 2.1 times.
According to the data of State Customs Committee during January-May 2013 volume of foreign trade turnover increased by 9.7% compared to corresponding period of last year and it was formed 14.7 milliard dollars, its 88.6% or 13.0 milliard dollars were carried out with far foreign countries and 1.7 milliard dollars with CIS member countries.
During five months in amount of 10.4 milliard dollars different products were sent to foreign countries, its 9.7 milliard dollars exported to far foreign countries, 629.6 million dollars to CIS member countries.
During five months export of non-oil products were increased by 12.9%.
Value of imported products to the country was formed 4.4 milliard dollars. Volume of imported goods from far foreign countries was 3.3 milliard dollars, form CIS member countries 1.1 milliard dollars.
During five months in amount of 6.0 milliard dollars, as well as, in amount of 6.4 milliard dollars positive balance was created with far foreign countries and in amount of 415.8 million dollars negative balance was created with CIS member countries.
Taking into account data received from State Oil Company and AIOC foreign trade turnover was formed 18.1 milliard dollars (as well as 13.8 milliard dollars export) and balance was 9.4 milliard dollars.
In January-May in amount of 8.0 million dollars humanitarian and technical aid was received.
In June compared with May prices of consumer goods and service tariffs decreased by 1.1%, as well as prices of food products – 2.6%, prices of non-food products were remained at the level of last month, service tariffs increased by 0.1%. During six months prices and tariffs increased by 2.0% compared to corresponding period of last year, as well as, prices of food products – 1.8%, prices of non-food products – 0.5%, service tariffs - 3.3%.
In accordance with the data of Ministry of Finance during January-May in amount of 8.2 milliard manat funds or more than 22.8% compared to corresponding period of 2012 were entered to the state budget, during this period in amount of 7.4 milliard manat fund or more than 31.6% compared to corresponding period of 2012 were spent from budget, in amount of 815.0 million manat or as 3.7% of GDP surplus was created. 44.9% or 3.3 milliard manat of budget expenditures were directed to the development of economy, 10.3% or 766.1 million manat to social defense and social protection, 9.2% or 681.6 million manat to education and to health. 18.5% or 1.4 milliard manat of budget expenditures were spent to the payment of salary/wage, pensions and benefits.
For the state of 1st of June sum of credit resources given by credit organizations was reached to 13.8 milliard manat and it was increased by 30.1% compared to the corresponding period of last year. 10.2 milliard manat of it was long-term credit and 768.7million manat - payment was expired.
Sum of deposits of population in banks increased by 35.7% compared to the corresponding period of last year and reached to 5.9 milliard manat for the state of 1st June. Sum of deposits with national currency was 3.6 milliard manat, deposits with foreign currency – 2.3 milliard manat.
In June average monthly rate of exchange of manat for 1 US dollars was 0.78 manat, 1Euro – 1.04 manat, 100 Russian rouble – 2.43 manat. In January-June correspondingly was 0.78, 1.03 and 2.53 manat.
