A key quality indicator of the economic and social progress of the Gross Domestic Product increased by 0.1 % and reached to 50.1 milliard manat in 2011. Value added decreased by 3.5 % in the field of product output and increased by 6.5 % in service.
5530.6 manat (7003, 4 US dollars) value added produced for per person of population.
Production of GDP increased by 9.4 % in non-oil sector but 9.3 % decreased in oil sector.
Production in Industry field decreased by 5.0 % compared to 2010, 77.9 % or 26.9 milliard manat of product output in mining, 17.0 % (in accordance with 5.9 milliard manat) in processing section, 4.5 % (1.6 milliard manat) -distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam section, 0.6 % (188.5 million manat) - water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities. Industry product output increased by 8.5 % in oil sector and increased by 11.1 % in non-oil sector.
During the 2011 in mining sector produced 45.4 million ton oil and 25.7 milliard cubic meters gas.
Production of food products from the section of processing increased by 5.0 %, 8.4 % - beverage manufacturing, 56.5%- production of clothing, 23.4% - wood processing and wood products industry, 12.8 % - production of printing products, 0.9 % - oil production, 27.1% - production of chemical industry, 4.4% - production of construction materials, 1.9 times - production of metallurgy industry products, 22.8% - manufacture of computers and other electronic equipments, 24.5% - production of furniture.
During the year 20.1 milliard kilowatt-hour electricity produced in power station of country.
593 unit "Belarus"? type tractor, 556 unit "Lifan"? brand motor car, 727 unit "Maz"? brand lorry, 19.2 thousand unit television, more than 4.3 thousand unit air-conditioning produced by the industrial production.
Construction. In 2011 for the development of economic and social fields of the country 12.8 milliard manat funds were directed to fixed assets from all financial sources, 61.2 % or 7.8 milliard manat of it spent to construction and assembly jobs. In comparison with the last year 27.3 % of funds directed to fixed assets and spent allocation to the construction and assembly jobs were more than 17.5 %. 80.3 % of fixed assets were the domestic, 19.7 % - investments directed from foreign sources.
Use of new buildings and facilities which are very important in the socio-economic life of the country were provided:

Agriculture. Total agricultural products increased by 5.8 % compared to 2010, as well as, plant-growing products- 8.0%, live-stock products-3.5%, in current prices production was 4525.2 million manat.
In primary profits weight 2458.5 thousand tone grain, 938.5 thousand tone potato, 1214.8 thousand tone vegetable, 63.3 thousand tone cotton, 765.8 thousand tone fruit and berry, 478.0 thousand tone market garden crops, 137.0 thousand tone grape, 254.7 thousand tone beet-sugar, 3.6 thousand tone tobacco, 534.1 tone green-tea leaf collected in 2011, and produced 264.7 thousand tone carcass weight meat, 1622.3 thousand tone milk, 1008.1 million unit-egg and 16.2 thousand tone wool. Rest of plant-growing products and live-stock products increased compared to previous year, excluding potato, tea, beet-sugar and egg.
2670.5 thousand head cattle, as well as, 1282.6 thousand head cow and buffalo, 8510.1 thousand head sheep and goat existed to the end of 2011.
203.5 million ton cargo and 1.5 milliard passengers transported by the natural entities engaged in transport enterprises and compared to previous year cargo transportation increased by 3.6%, passenger transportation - 7.5 %.
34.5 million tone oil, as well as 2.1 million tone transit Turkmenistan oil transferred by the help of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline named H.Aliyev.
During the year number of automobiles in the country increased by 59.8 thousand unit reached to 1042.3 thousand unit and at the moment in 42 family from per 100 family have got a private car.
Information and communication technologies in the area of the non-oil sectors are one of the most rapidly developing areas. Employees of this field provided communication services to population, enterprises and organizations by 1 milliard 245 million manat or more than 11.8 percent compared to 2010. 72.7 % of services provided to population and increased by 15.4 %. At the moment there are 101 mobile telephones for per 100 population. One of every two persons of the population use internet and use tariffs of internet decreased.
Trade and service. Selling of commodity and service on retail trade and public (catering) establishments in 2011 was equal to 21.8 milliard manat exceeded by 9.9 % the level of 2010, commodity turnover increased by 10.6 %, volume of paid services - 7.8 %. Each resident of the country spent every month an average of 151.4 manat or 23.8 manat money more than in 2010 from the retail trade and public (catering) networks.
At the result of stable and dynamic development of service sector during the year each resident of the country used paid services every month average of 49.1 manat or 5.0 manat more than previous year.
Foreign trade. Legal and natural entities of Azerbaijan made trade operations with partners of about 150 countries around the world in January-November, 2011. The volume of foreign trade turnover was 33.2 milliard US dollars, at the result of exceeding 2.9 times of export-import was created positive foreign trade amount of balance by 16.1 milliard dollars. Volume of foreign trade turnover compared to 2010 increased by 9.2 % in comparable prices, as well as, 46.4 % - import and export decreased by 3.8 %.
In 2011 tariffs on consumer goods and service prices increased by 7.9 %.
Deposits of population. During the year volume of deposits of population in the banks increased by 33.5 and made 3.8 milliard manat to the end of 2011.
Credit investment. Amount of credits to the end of December by the financial and credit institutions reached by 9.9 milliard manat and increased by 18.8 % compared to corresponding period of 2010.
Income of population increased by 19.6 % and reached to 30.6 milliard manat, the amount of per capita increased by 18.1 % and reached to 3383.8 manat.
Salary/wage. Average monthly salary/wage of employees increase annually. As in previous years salary/wage of employees engaged in economic and social fields increased continuously in 2011. Average monthly salary/wage in January-November increased by 8.3% and reached to 356.6 manat.
Social protection. According to the primary data of State Social Protection Fund numbers of pensioners were 1278 thousand persons and the average amount of fixed monthly pensions reached to 145.2 manats.
To the end of current year 306.8 thousand persons received social benefits, 34.3 thousand persons - pension for special services to the Republic of Azerbaijan and from 122 thousand family 547.8 thousand persons - addressed public social aid.
The gradual improvement of the social status of the population impact on poverty reduction and according to primary data during a year poverty line decreased by 1.5 % and fell to 7.6 %. It should be noted that, the line of poverty was 44.7% in 2003, 40.2% in 2004, 29.3% in 2005, 20.8 % in 2006, 15.8 % in 2007, 13.2% in 2008, 10.9% in 2009 and 9.1% in 2010. So, the number of poor population decreased by 5.2 times in the last eight years.
New job places. In the country about 94 thousand new job places were opened, 72.2 thousand % of them was permanent job places. This and other factors being increased by 0.5 of unemployment level and impacted to fell by 5.4 %.
Demography. According to the primary data mainly to the state of 1 January, 2012 number of country population was 123.9 thousand persons or increased by 1.4 % reached to 9235.0 thousand persons. 53 % of population reside in urban places, 47 % - in rural places; 49.6 % of inhabitants made men, 50.4%- women. There are 1017 women per 1000 men.
Life expectancy for birth of infants last year was 73.6 years old, including boys - 70.09 years old, girls - 76.2 years old.
During 2011 there were 175.4 thousand births of infants and this is the highest figure for last 17 years. Birth level increased from 18.5 to 19.4 by the account of per 1000 population compared to 2010. 53.8 % of births was boys, 46.2% - girls. 1506 of the infants are twins, 33- trilling.
Mostly boys are named Yusif, Ali, Huseyn, Mahammad, Murad and Nihad but girls- Zahra, Nuray, Fatima, Fidan, Zeynab and Ayan.
There are at average 2.4 infants per woman during childbearing span, thus, reproduction of population is provided.
89.4 thousand marriages were registered during 2011 by official state bodies and number of marriages compared to 2010 increased from 8.9 to 9.9 by the account of per 1000 population. Average age limit among men marrying for the first time has made 27 years old and among women - 23 years old.
Realization of state policy for solving of the problems of youth, opening of new job places and involving of youth in economy decreases number of youth going abroad in search of a living. According to record of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 2.2 thousand persons arrived to Azerbaijan during 2011 for permanent residence and 0.5 thousand persons left the country. 77.1 % of immigrants were from Russian Federation, 8.1% - from Kazakhstan, 4.3 % - from Ukraine; emigration to these countries made relatively 45.1%, 32.7% and 8.4%.
