Traffic accidents occurred on the highways on January-September 2023

On January-September 2023, 1204 or 4,4% less traffic accidents occurred compared to the corresponding period of 2022, the number of victims of these events decreased by 2,2% to 1661 persons. 627 of suffered persons died and 1034 of them were injured. 43,6% of accidents happened in the daytime, 39,6% - at night time, 16,8% - during twilight, 29,8% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87,0% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared to the corresponding period of previous year increased by 6,8% and made 454 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 1,1% and made 981 persons.

40,0% - several transport means, 36,8% of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 23,2% - one mode of transport. 74,8% of persons died and 72,8% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

18 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 5 persons died, 21 persons injured. 15 of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.
