Social security in the country
As of July 1, 2026, 1100,0 thsd. pensioners (1103,3 thsd. as of July 1 of the previous year) were registered in the State Social Protection Fund, which is 10,7 percent of the country’s population. Average amount of the assigned monthly pensions increased by 10,5 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 594,4 manats, which was equal to 50,6 percent of the average monthly salary.
Furthermore, various types of monthly social benefits are granted to certain category of persons in order to ensure social protection of the population.
During six months of 2026, excluding those financed through compulsory state social insurance contributions, lump-sum benefits were granted to 15,9 thsd. families for the birth of 16,4 thsd. children, to 3,6 thsd. persons affected by radiation accidents for medical treatment, and to 4,5 thsd. persons released from serving sentences in penitentiary institutions.
As of July 1, 2026, 349,3 thsd. members of 78,9 thsd. low-income families received targeted state social assistance and its average monthly amount per capita made 97,9 manats.
405,1 thsd. persons belonging to various categories were awarded scholarships of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and scholarships for honorary title.
