Waste movement in 2025

In 2025, 4426,4 thousand tons of waste, or 1,4% more compared to the previous year, was generated in the country, of which 73,5% was solid domestic waste and 26,5% consisted of various types of waste generated as a result of the production activities of enterprises.

82,1% of the 3251,2 thousand tons of solid domestic waste generated last year was transported to landfills for disposal, 17,4% was used for energy recovery, 0,5% was sold within the country. As a result of the incineration of domestic waste, 222,1 million kWh of electricity was generated.

Last year, 16,8% of the production waste generated in industry and other sectors of the economy, including the remaining waste from previous years, was used as raw material in enterprises, 23,4% was sold, 9,9% was transported to landfills for disposal, 49,9% remained in enterprises.

In 2025, as a result of the production activities of enterprises, 272,2 thousand tons of hazardous waste was generated, and its share in the total amount of waste was 6,1%. Of the hazardous waste generated, 71,9% originated from the mining industry, 18,9% from the manufacturing industry, and 9,2 % from other sectors.
