Delegation of the State Statistical Committee is visiting Türkiye

A delegation led by Azer Mursagulov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is paying a visit to Türkiye.

As part of the visit, which is taking place at the invitation of Erhan Çetinkaya, President of the Turkish Statistical Institute, on May 6 the Azerbaijani delegation visited the Heydar Aliyev Park in Ankara. Fresh flowers were laid at the monument to the National Leader and his memory was honored with profound respect.

During the meeting held at the Turkish Statistical Institute, the heads of the statistical authorities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, A. Mursagulov and E. Çetinkaya, signed the 2026 Work Plan within the framework of the “Memorandum of Understanding on statistics between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye” signed on October 3, 2025, and approved by Decree No. 534 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated November 24, 2025.

The meeting also underscored the importance of further expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of official statistics and strengthening the exchange of professional expertise and experience between the two institutions. Within the framework of the Work Plan, particular attention was devoted to cooperation in the areas of agricultural and industrial statistics, the statistical measurement of the digital economy, the implementation of innovations envisaged under the System of National Accounts 2025 (SNA 2025), as well as the exchange of experience in bilateral and multilateral international cooperation.

As part of the visit, Azer Mursagulov also participated in the regional event, organised jointly by PARIS21, the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific and Turkish Statistical Institute, “Enhancing Statistical Leadership for Heads of National Statistics Offices in Asia and the Pacific to foster Data Innovation in a Digital Society”.
