On the number of foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who departed from the Republic of Azerbaijan to foreign countries in January 2026

According to the State Border Service data, in January 2026 the Republic of Azerbaijan received 181,8 thousand or 5,3 percent more foreigners and stateless persons from 158 countries of the world compared to the previous year. 23,4% of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, 20,1 % – Türkiye, 8,5% – Iran, 5.0% – India, 4.9% Saudi Arabia, 4.8% Georgia, 3.7% Pakistan, 3.1% Kazakhstan, 2.8% Uzbekistan, 2.7% Israel, 2.0% Kuwait, 1.7% the United Arab Emirates, 1.4% China, 1.3% each Turkmenistan and Ukraine, and 13.3% were citizens of other countries. 71,1 % of the arrivals were men and 28,9 % were women.

In comparison with January 2025, the number of arrivals from member states of the European Union increased by 41.9% to 7.2 thsd. persons, from the Gulf countries increased by 4.3% to 34.6 thsd. persons, from the CIS countries increased by 4.7% to 58.6 thsd. persons, and arrivals from other countries increased by 3.8% to 81.4 thsd. persons.

72,4 percent of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in our country used air transport, 26,3 percent - railway and car, and 1,3 percent - sea transport.

The total number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad decreased by 1.4% compared to January 2025 and amounted to 151,9 thousand persons. 35.8% of our citizens travelled to Türkiye (2.0% decrease compared with January of the previous year), 15.8% to Russia (1.5% increase), 12.3% to Iran (13.3% increase), 9.8% to Georgia (17.6% decrease), and 26.3% to other countries (1.1% decrease). 66,3% of the travelers were men and 33,7% were women.

In January 2026, 69,0% of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who visited foreign countries used air transport, 29,5% railway and car, and 1,9% - sea transport.
