An extended Board meeting dedicated to the results of 2025 and the tasks ahead for 2026 was held at the State Statistical Committee

On February 13, an extended Board meeting devoted to discussing the activities of the country’s statistical bodies in 2025 and the tasks ahead for 2026 was held at the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the participation of the heads of the structural divisions of the Committee’s Administration, the State Statistical Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as the city and district statistical offices.

During the meeting, information was provided on the measures implemented by the State Statistics Committee in 2025 to develop the official statistics system and it was noted that within the framework of the work carried out, the methodological base had been improved in line with international standards, and the application of digital and innovative solutions in the statistical production process had been expanded. Moreover, for the first time in the country, the agricultural census was conducted using the CAPI method, electronic services were modernized and data accessibility was enhanced. The statistical database on the Sustainable Development Goals was further expanded, and the number of indicators for which data production is ensured reached 153.

It was further emphasized that, in order to ensure the development of the national statistical system, the “State Program on the Development of Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030” was approved by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 860 dated December 25, 2025. It was noted that the implementation of the State Program will further enhance the quality, timeliness, and international comparability of official statistical data.

Chairman of the Committee, Azer Mursagulov, stated that the Committee has achieved a number of significant results in ensuring the quality, timeliness, and compliance of official statistical data with international standards. At the same time, the Chairman noted that statistics is not merely a set of figures, but constitutes the main information base for important state decision-making, stressing in this regard the fundamental importance of ensuring the reliability, objectivity, accuracy and timely dissemination of data, and providing relevant recommendations and instructions.

In his speech, the Chairman also highlighted the special importance of the strategic approach defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, at the meeting on “Azerbaijan’s New Digital Architecture”, emphasizing that the application of process automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital solutions will be among the key directions shaping the future development model of the statistical system and will create conditions for directing human resources toward higher value-added activities, noting that digital transformation is one of the priority areas for the future development of statistics and will contribute to the sustainable and modern development of the national statistical system.
