Visit of the Delegation of the State Statistical Committee to Vietnam has concluded
The delegation led by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a number of meetings in Ho Chi Minh City— economic and financial center of the country and its largest city by population—within the framework of the visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. During meetings with Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, and Nguyen Khac Hoang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office, it was emphasized that the strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, based on mutually beneficial cooperation and respect for each other’s interests, are developing successfully. It was noted that mutual visits are of great importance for the exchange of experience and for expanding cooperation in various areas, including statistics. During the visit, the delegation also met with the management of the “Vietsovpetro” company and members of the Vung Tau branch of the Vietnam–Azerbaijan Friendship Association in Vung Tau City—the country’s oil industry center. At the meeting, it was especially emphasized that shortly after the establishment of the “Vietsovpetro” company in 1983, the visit of the Soviet delegation led by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, to Vung Tau, as well as the support subsequently provided to Vietnam, made it possible to extract the first offshore oil. It was noted that Azerbaijani specialists made invaluable contributions to the development of the country’s oil and gas industry, and that Vietnam shows great interest in studying Azerbaijan’s rich experience in personnel training in this field and in expanding cooperation. It was stated that Vung Tau and Baku are brother cities, and the prospects for cooperation between the regions of the two countries were discussed. Confidence was expressed that the work to be carried out in this area would bring dynamism to Azerbaijan–Vietnam relations. The delegation visited the Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the “Vietsovpetro” Company Museum and Baku Street in Vung Tau. The visit has concluded on 30 January.
