Apiculture

Based on the results of statistical survey organized by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in 2021 there were obtained 6802.7 ton of honey, 172.6 ton of bee wax, 15.6 ton of bee glue, 17.8 ton of bee bread and 215.4 kg of bee milk from 625.3 thsd bee families existing in 33332 farms. Average sale price of 1 kg of honey made 25.3 manats, bee wax - 13.2 manats, bee glue - 92.3 manats, bee bread - 117.5 manats, average sale price of 1 gr of bee milk was 6.5 manats.

According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on “Stimulating the development of apiculture in the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated 5 March 2018, № 3747 the subsidy in amount of 10 manats has been identified per bee family (beehive) to natural and legal entities engaged in apiculture and that positively impacted on development of apiculture in the country. Thus, in comparison with 2017 the number of bee families in 2021 increased by 2.3 times while production of honey increased by 2.2 times. Generally, during 13 years after approval of the Law on “Apiculture” of the Republic of Azerbaijan the production of honey increased by 4.8 times, number of bee families by 4.4 times and number of bee families per farm engaged in apiculture increased from 11.1 to 18.8.
