According to the State Border Service data, in 2021 Azerbaijan received from 167 countries of the world 791,8 thousand or 0,5 percent less foreigners and stateless persons compared to 2020. 4,6% of them visited our country in January, 4,5% - February, 5,7% - March, 5,8% - April, 6,5% - May, 8,5%- June, 10,6% - July, 9,7% - August, 9,4% - September, 11,5 % - October, 10,9% - November, 12,3% - December. 82,0 percent of the arrivals were men and 18,0 percent were women.

32,6 percent of the arrivals in 2021 were from Russian Federation, 25,0 percent - Turkey, 15,8 percent - Iran, 7,9 percent – Georgia, per 2,2 percent – Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates, 1,2 percent - Great Britain, 1,1 percent – Saudi Arabia, 0,9 percent – Kazakhstan, 0,8 percent – Israel, per 0,7 percent – Germany, Belarus and India, 0,6 percent – the USA, 0,5 percent - Uzbekistan, per 0,4 percent – Italy and Pakistan, 0,3 percent – Turkmenistan and 6,0 percent were citizens of other countries.

Compared with 2020 the number of arrivals from Georgia decreased by 66,0 percent, India - 55,3 percent, Saudi Arabia – 26,0 percent, Uzbekistan – 20,3 percent, Kazakhstan – 18,5 percent, Belarus – 5,1 percent, while the number of arrivals from the United Arab Emirates increased by 2,2 times, Iran – 72,2 percent, USA – 69,3 percent, Germany – 67,7 percent, Israel – 57,0 percent, Great Britain – 33,7 percent, Italy – 24,0 percent, Turkey – 23,3 percent, Russian Federation – 14,7 percent.

The number of arrivals from EU member countries increased by 53,8 percent and amounted to 35,4 thousand persons, from Gulf countries it increased by 43,7 percent and amounted to 159,0 thousand persons and from the CIS countries it increased by 8,9 percent and amounted to 297,7 thousand persons compared with 2020.

49,8 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 48,0 percent - air and 2,2 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad decreased by 16,3 percent compared with 2020 and amounted to 974,5 thousand persons. The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran decreased by 80,6 percent, Georgia - 75,3 percent, while the number of travelers to Turkey increased by 2,4 times, Russian Federation - 7,8 percent. 47,3 percent of the country citizens traveled to Turkey, 24,3 percent - Russian Federation, 7,8 percent – Georgia, 6,8 percent – Iran, 13,8 percent to other countries. 66,3 percent of the travelers were men and 33,7 percent were women. 

In 2021, 68,8 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using air transport, 28,0 percent - railway and automobile and 3,2 percent - water transport.
