A meeting was held between First Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Mr. Vahab Mammadov and representative of the UN Population Fund in Türkiye, Country Director for Azerbaijan and Georgia Ms. Mariam Khan

On December 5, a meeting was held between Mr. Vahab Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Statistical Committee and the representative of the UN Population Fund in Türkiye, Country Director for Azerbaijan and Georgia Ms. Mariam Khan.

During the meeting the sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), noted that UNFPA was also closely involved in the process of preparing and conducting the population census in 2019, and that UNFPA supported the participation of specialists of the State Statistical Committee in the relevant international trainings organized in a number of foreign countries in order to strengthen skills and knowledge in the field of population census conduction. According to the agreement signed between UNFPA and the Centre of Scientific Research and Statistical Innovations of the State Statistical Committee, dated 17.03.2017, within the framework of the project “Fight against gender-based violence in Azerbaijan”, the relevant trainings were organized in the Centre in order to conduct a household survey on gender-based violence. The current state of cooperation between the State Statistical Committee and UNFPA and its promising development directions, achievements in the field of population statistics, as well as the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) conducted in our country were also discussed at the meeting.

Then, the sides exchanged views on the priorities of joint cooperation between the State Statistical Committee and UNFPA and other issues of mutual interest.
