Participation of representative of the State Statistical Committee in the workshop organized in Copenhagen on data gaps, metadata and "Reportnet" system
Representative of the State Statistical Committee deputy head of the Department of Quality Management and IT Chimnaz Aliyeva was participated in the workshop held at the European Environment Agency premises in Copenhagen, Denmark on 18-19 April, 2012 organized in the frame of ENPI-SEIS Working Group on Information Technology on data gaps, metadata and "Reportnet"? for East region.
Employees of Statistical and Environmental bodies of Southern Caucasus, Belarus, Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Sweden and Denmark, as well as, representatives of European Environment Agency and other international organizations were participated in the workshop.
The objective of the workshop was wide information on data, metadata on environment and "Reportnet"? system. It was noted that, information on environment is necessary for influencing public policy and effective assistance to the citizens and the need for the adoption of environment-based decisions. Within the ENPI-SEIS project the partner countries have chosen to focus efforts on three environmental themes. They are indicators on freshwater, its quality and quantity, municipal and possibly hazardous waste, air emissions, GHG, possibly air quality. Besides this, also representatives discussed collection, processing and dissemination of data. Our representative in the frame of exchange of views gave wide information on achievements of Committee on application of information technologies.
The objective of working group on information technologies was to identify options and issues in relation to dataflow requirements for a number of selected indicators; to provide feedback to the UNECE Joint Task Force on Environmental Indicators on possible gaps or accessibility problems on dataflow; to give the participants an introduction to Reportnet and other relevant EEA tools in order to assist them in using these systems for future reporting.
