In 2020 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 183 countries of the world, goods were exported to 111 countries and imported from 174 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in 2020 made 24201,1 million USD. 13470,4 million USD or 55,7% of trade turnover made the export value, 10730,7 (44,3%) million USD – import value and consequently positive trade balance reached to 2739,7 million USD. In comparison with 2019 foreign trade turnover decreased in actual price by 26,8%, in real terms by 21,9%, including import – 36,0%, export - 12,0%.

In 2020 the export of non-oil gas products, compared to previous year, decreased in actual price by 5,3%, while in real terms it decreased by 16,0% and made 1851,3 million USD.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 30,4% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 18,9% - Turkey, 5,2% – Russia, 3,8% - Greece, per 3,4% - Croatia and Georgia, 3,3% - India, 3,2% - Israel, 3,1% - China, 2,6% - Ukraine, 2,4% - Spain, 2,3% – Tunisia, per 1,7% - Portugal, Germany and Czech Republic, 1,6% - Switzerland and the rest 11,3% - other countries.

The share of goods sent to Russia (37,3%), Turkey (20,4%), Switzerland (12,1%), Georgia (6,9%), China (2,4%), Ukraine (2,3%), Italy (2,1%), Iran (1,5%), Kazakhstan (1,4%), USA (1,3%), Uzbekistan (1,1%), Germany (1,0%), Turkmenistan (1,0%), Belarus (1,0%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil gas products.

18,3% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 14,6% – Turkey, 13,2% - China, 5,9% - USA, 5,4% – Germany, 4,2% – France, 3,9% - Ukraine, 3,7% - Italy, per 2,8% – Iran and UK, 1,8% – Japan, 1,7% – Korea, 1,4% - Belarus, and 20,3% - other countries.

In 2020 compared to previous year export of main types of products like potato increased by 31,7%, fruit and vegetable juice – 20,1%, vegetable oils – 1,7 times, fruit and vegetable cans – 3,8%, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 16,4%, cotton fiber – 13,2%, polyethylene – 27,6%, ferrous metal pipes – 2,0 times, while export of fresh fruit decreased by 10,5%, fresh vegetable – 1,2%, sugar – 2,3%, tobacco – 26,1%, tea – 9,9%, natural grape wine and cellar – 57,3%, unprocessed aluminum – 18,1%, cotton yarn – 29,4%, bentonite clay – 7,1%, semi-finished ferrous metals - 36,1%.

In 2020 compared to 2019 import of fresh fruit increased by 11,5%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 19,8%, beef – 10,9%, fresh vegetable – 1,8 times, motor cars – 15,1%, medical products – 38,5%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 23,1%, ferrous metal rods – 36,6%, mineral fertilizers – 4,5%, while import of wheat decreased by 13,9%, vegetable oils – 1,3%, raw sugar and sugar – 14,5%, tea – 0,8%, potato – 5,4%, poultry meat and its additional products – 21,0%, cigarettes – 71,1%, ferrous metal pipes – 22,6%, steel rolling – 13,6%, rubber tires – 17,7%, domestic trucks – 4,1%, furniture – 24,9%, polyethylene – 25,0%, washing machines – 7,4%, air conditioners – 33,4%, busses - 52,7%, ferrous metal corners – 14,5%, domestic refrigerators – 12,0%, cement and cement clinker – 32,6%.
