According to the State Border Service data, in January-April 2020 Azerbaijan received from 151 countries of the world 539.0 thousand or 36.5 percent less foreigners and stateless persons compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, as in March of current year, a sharp decrease in the number of visitors to our country was observed in April, their number decreased by 4.7 times compared to the previous month and by 12.1 times compared to April of last year.

In January-April of current year, 30,4 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 27,9 percent – Georgia, 12,3 percent - Turkey, 6,1 percent - Iran, 2,3 percent - India, 2,2 percent - Saudi Arabia, 2,1 percent - Ukraine, 1,5 percent - the United Arab Emirates, 1,4 percent - Pakistan, per 1,3 percent - Kuwait and Kazakhstan, 1,2 percent - Turkmenistan, per 0,9 percent - Iraq and Great Britain, 0,8 percent - Uzbekistan, 0,7 percent - Israel, 6,6 percent - were citizens of other countries and 0,1 percent were stateless people. 74,0 percent of the arrivals were men and 26,0 percent were women.

In January-April of current year the number of arrivals from the United Arab Emirates had decreased by 4,1 times, China - by 3,5 times, Spain, Oman and Poland - by 2,5 times, Japon - by 2,4 times, Qatar and the Netherlands - by 2,3 times, USA, Iraq, Italy, France and Canada - by 2,2 times.

In general, the number of arrivals from EU member countries decreased by 2,2 times and amounted to 15,6 thousand persons, from Gulf countries it decreased by 2,0 times and amounted to 70,7 thousand persons and from the CIS countries it decreased by 1,4 times and amounted to 197,6 thousand persons.    

65,8 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 32,8 percent - air and 1,4 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad decreased by 42,3 percent compared with January-April 2019 and amounted to 944,7 thousand persons. 33,8 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 29,8 percent - Georgia, 20,4 percent - Russian Federation, 9,7 percent – Turkey and 6,3 percent to other countries. 68,9 percent of the travelers were men and 31,1 percent were women. 

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran decreased by 50,3 percent, Turkey - by 42,4 percent, Georgia - by 36,8 percent, Russian Federation - by 35,6 percent.

In January-April 2020, 82,4 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 16,3 percent - air and 1,3 percent - water transport.
