In January-March 2020, 421 or 12.6% more traffic accidents occurred in comparison with the corresponding period of 2019, as a result of these events the number of victims of these events increased by 15.5 percent to 559. 181 of suffered persons died and 378 of them were injured. 35.4 % of accidents happened in the daytime, 39.4 % - at night time, 25.2 % - during twilight, 30.9 % of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

88.8 % of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared to the last year increased by 33.0 % and made 133 persons, number of injured persons increased by 5.4 % and made 350 persons.

47.3 % of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 34.7% - several transport means, 18.0 % - one mode of transport.

6 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 1 persons died, 8 persons injured. 50.0% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

In January-March 2020, the number of administrative violation of traffic rules was 841.7 thousand. 39.6% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road, 21.9% - violation of the parking and stopping rules, 11.0% - disobedience the requirements of the traffic and road signs, 9.9% - continue the movement during the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign is active, 3.1% - driving without seat belt, 3.6% - failure to sign compulsory insurance contract and the rest by other reasons. Penalties in amount of 25.4 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
