“Memorandum of Understanding on Conduction of Multiply Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022” has been signed between the State Statistical Committee and UNICEF

On February 28, the signing ceremony of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Conducting of Multiply Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022” between the State Statistical Committee and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Azerbaijan has been held.

Chairman of the Committee Tahir Budagov welcomed the participants of the ceremony and emphasized that there is close cooperation between the State Statistical Committee and relevant UN agencies, including UNICEF. It was noted that conduction of Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey is constituted in the “State Program on Improvement of Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2025”. Implementation of this activity will encourage collecting up-to-date, comprehensive and new data disaggregated by different features and thus enriching statistical database, obtaining data on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing international comparability of the data and statistical capacity building. Conduction of MICS will provide the completeness of the data set on children and women in our country.  

Head of the Office of the United Nations Children's Fund in the Republic of Azerbaijan Alex Heikens delivered his deep gratitude to Tahir Budagov for the organization of the meeting in a large delegation and noted that since 2021, the preparatory work on conduction of MICS has been carried out with the representatives of the State Statistical Committee. He expressed his confidence that the work envisaged in the Memorandum will be carried out in a timely and high-quality manner. He noted that conduction of the survey during the post-conflict and post-pandemic period will keep its relevance for a long time and create better opportunities for obtaining information.

Then, the ceremony of signing the “Memorandum of Understanding on Conducting of Multiply Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022” was held.

The Memorandum was signed by Chairman of the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tahir Budagov and Head of the United Nations Children's Fund in Azerbaijan Alex Heikens.

Discussions on issues of mutual interest were held during the event.
