Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in January-June 2021

In January-June 2021, 756 or 0.5% less traffic accidents occurred in comparison with the corresponding period of 2020, the number of victims of these events decreased by 3.7% to 988 persons. 290 of suffered persons died and 698 of them were injured. 43.5% of accidents happened in the daytime, 38.1% - at night time, 18.4% - during twilight, 29,5% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87,2% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared with the corresponding period of the last year decreased by 14.5% and made 213 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 0.8% and made 645 persons.

40.2 % of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 38,1% - several transport means, 21.7% - one mode of transport.

81.7% of persons died and 71.3% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

11 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 5 persons died, 10 persons injured. 81.8% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.
