Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in January-March 2021

In January-March 2021, 376 or 10,7% less traffic accidents occurred in comparison with the corresponding period of 2020, the number of victims of these events decreased by 11,4% to 495 persons. 125 of suffered persons died and 370 of them were injured. 42,8% of accidents happened in the daytime, 35,6% - at night time, 21,6% - during twilight, 29,5% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87,5% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared with the corresponding period of the last year decreased by 33,1% and made 89 persons, number of injured persons decreased by 3,4% and made 338 persons.

37,8% of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 38,3% - several transport means, 23,9% - one mode of transport.

84,0% of persons died and 72,7% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

8 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 2 persons died, 9 persons injured. 75,0% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.
