According to the State Border Service data, in January-February 2020 Azerbaijan received from 149 countries of the world 426.1 thousand or 17.0 percent more foreigners and stateless persons compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. 28,7 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 28.7 percent – Georgia, 11.2 percent - Turkey, 6.2 percent - Iran, per 2.6 percent - Saudi Arabia and India, per 1.8 percent – the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine, 1.6 percent –Kuwait, 1.5 percent –  Pakistan, 1.4 percent – Kazakhstan, per 1.1 percent – Turkmenistan and Iraq, 0.9 percent – Great Britain, per 0.8 percent – Israel and Uzbekistan, 7.1 percent were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 72.3 percent of the arrivals were men and 27.7 percent were women.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors in January-February 2020 among citizens of Saudi Arabia (3.3 times), Israel (2.3 times), Hungary (2.0 times), India (1.8 times), Kuwait (1.5 times), Bahrain (1.5 times), Belarus (35.5 percent), Moldova (30.7 percent), Kazakhstan (27.7 percent), Uzbekistan (26.2 percent), Iran (24.9 percent), Russian Federation (21.7 percent), Germany (20.4 percent), Ukraine (18.3 percent) and Pakistan (17.4 percent).

In general, the number of arrivals from EU member countries increased by 5.7 percent and amounted to 12.2 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it increased by 21.2 percent and amounted to 147.7 thousand persons and from Gulf countries it increased by 17.4 percent and amounted to 62.2 thousand persons.  

64.0 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 35.0 percent - air and 1.0 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 12.2 percent compared with January-February 2019 and amounted to 820.6 thousand persons. 38.4 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 29.1 percent - Georgia, 17.3 percent - Russian Federation, 9.9 percent – Turkey and 5.3 percent to other countries. 67.8 percent of the travelers were men and 32.2 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Georgia increased by 19.9 percent, Iran - by 13.4 percent, Turkey – 8.7 percent, to Russian Federation it decreased by 1.7 percent.

In January-February 2020, 84.1 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 15.2 percent - air and 0.7% - water transport.
