Traffic accidents occurred on the highways in 2019

In 2019, the country's automobile roads suffered a traffic accident of 1870, or 2.9 percent more than in 2018, the number of victims of these events dropped by 3.7 percent to 2523. 821 of suffered persons died and 1702 of them were injured. 44.9% of accidents happened in the daytime, 35.5% - at night time, 19.6% - during twilight, 29.5% of accidents occurred on Saturdays and Sundays.

87.5% of traffic accidents happened in settlements; number of persons died as a result of these accidents compared to 2018 increased by 1.4% and made 564 persons, number of injured persons increased by 0.2% and made 1631 persons.

43.6% of all traffic accidents happened with participation of transport means and pedestrians, 33.7% - several transport means, 22.7% - one mode of transport.

77.6% of persons died and 72.9% of injured as a result of traffic accidents were men.

30 accidents occurred because of drunk driving and caused death or injury, where 18 persons died, 21 persons injured. 60.0% of such accidents have been committed by drivers of motor-cars.

During the year the number of administrative violation of traffic rules made 3999.1 thousand. 39.9% of violations were detected on exceeding the speed on the road, 22.1% - violation of the parking and stopping rules, 10.3% - disobedience the requirements of the traffic and road signs, 9.3% - continue the movement during the traffic light or the regulator’s warning sign is active, 3.6% - driving without seat belt, 3.5% - failure to sign compulsory insurance contract and the rest by other reasons.

Penalties in amount of 119.0 million manats were applied because of violation of traffic rules.
