According to the State Border Service data, in January 2020 Azerbaijan received from 136 countries of the world 226.2 thousand or 18.1 percent more foreigners and stateless persons compared with January 2019. 30.0 percent of the arrivals were from Russian Federation, 28.2 percent – Georgia, 10.6 percent - Turkey, 5.8 percent - Iran, 3.2 percent - Saudi Arabia, 2.3 percent – the United Arab Emirates, 2.1 percent – India, per 1.8 percent – Ukraine and Kuwait, per 1.4 percent – Kazakhstan and Pakistan, 1.1 percent Turkmenistan, 0.9 percent Iraq, per 0.8 percent – Great Britain and Israel, 7.7 percent – were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 71.1 percent of the arrivals were men and 28.9 percent were women.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors in January 2020 among citizens of Saudi Arabia (4.2 times), Israel (2.6 times), India (80.2 percent), Kuwait (73.3 percent), Bahrain (69.8 percent), Malaysia (62.5 percent), China (54.0 percent), Hungary (42.9 percent), Belarus (29.5 percent), Moldova (28.6 percent), Japan (26.6 percent), Iran (26.4 percent), South Korea (21.7 percent), Ukraine (21.1 percent), Russian Federation (20.4 percent), Kazakhstan (19.6 percent) and Pakistan (15.3 percent).

In January 2020 the number of arrivals from Gulf countries increased by 21.2 percent and amounted to 34.6 thousand persons, from the CIS countries it increased by 20.4 percent and amounted to 80.9 thousand persons and from EU member countries it increased by 1.0 percent and amounted to 5.9 thousand persons.

64.1 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 35.0 percent - air and 0.9 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad increased by 21.5 percent compared with January 2019 and amounted to 433.7 thousand persons. 38.1 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 29.9 percent - Georgia, 16.8 percent - Russian Federation, 9.7 percent – Turkey, 1.1 percent Ukraine, 1.0 percent the United Arab Emirates and 3.4 percent to other countries. 67.4 percent of the travelers were men and 32.6 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 32.2 percent, Georgia – by 29.9 percent, Turkey – 15.9 percent, to Russian Federation it decreased by 2.1 percent,.

In January 2020, 84.2 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 15.2 percent - air and 0.6% - water transport.
