Foreign trade relations

On January-October 2019 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 190 countries of the world, goods were exported to 117 countries and imported from 180 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country on January- October 2019 made 27436,7 million USD, including export value – 15981,4 million USD, import value – 11455,3 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 4526,1 million USD. In comparison with January- October 2018 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 3,4 percent, in real terms 1,3 percent, including import – 2,8 percent, export – 0,5 percent. During this period non-oil products value- 1572,9 million USD were exported from the country, in actual terms 16,5 percent, in real terms 11,3 percent more than the same period of last year..

According to the State Customs Committee data, 29,4 percent of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 13,8 percent - Turkey, 6,9 percent – Israel, 5,7 percent – India, 4,9 percent - Germany, 4,2 percent – China and Spain, 3,4 percent – Russia, 3,2 percent – France, 2,9 percent – Georgia, 2,8 percent Czech Republic, 2,3 percent UK, 2,1 percent – Portugal, 1,9 percent - Ukraine and the rest 12,3 percent - other countries.

The share of goods sent to Russia (33,9%), Turkey (20,6%), Switzerland (9,4%), Georgia (8,4%), Ukraine (2,5%), Italy (2,3%), China (2,2%), Greece (2,2%), Netherlands (1,4%) and Iran (1,5%) was prevailed in export value on non-oil products.

16,3 percent of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 11,6 percent – Turkey, 10,6 percent - Switzerland, 9,4 percent - China, 6,0 percent - USA, 5,1 percent Germany,  3,4 percent for each – Canada, Iran and Ukraine, 2,7 percent - Italy, 2,6 percent – Australia, 1,6 percent - France, 1,7 percent UK, 1,6 percent - Japan, 20,3 percent - other countries.

On January-October 2019 compared to January-October 2018 export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 20,1 percent, sugar – 45,6 percent, tobacco – 1,8 times, fruit and vegetable juice – 30,6 percent, tea - 7,1 percent, fruit and vegetable cans – 2,3 percent, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 42,2 percent, cotton fibre – 52,4 percent, unprocessed aluminum – 29,1 percent, polyethylene – 10,1 percent, cotton yarn – 34,9 percent, bentonite clay – 12,9 percent, while fresh vegetable decreased by 7,3 percent, potato - 7,2 percent, vegetable oils – 18,1 percent, natural grape wine and cellar – 22,5 percent, semi-finished ferrous metals – 17,5 percent, ferrous metal pipes – 82,7 percent.

On January- October 2019 compared to January- October 2018 import of wheat increased by 46,0%, raw sugar and sugar – 1,7 %, fresh fruit – 2,2%, vegetable oils – 2,6%, butter other milk fats and pastas – 16,6%, tea – 2,1 percent, potato – 36,5%, poultry meat and its additional products – 10,0%, beef – 3,2%, fresh vegetable – 30,0%, motor cars – 1,8 times, steel rolling – 29,4 percent, mineral fertilizers – 33,6%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 42,1%, rubber tyres – 15,6%, busses – 2,5 times, furniture – 3,2%, air conditioners – 1,6 times, domestic trucks – 1,7 times, polyethylene – 20,8%, washing machines – 10,1%, ferrous metal corners – 19,5%, while import of cigarette decreased by 52,2%, ferrous metal pipes – 15,1%, ferrous metal rods – 18,4%, cement and cement clinker – 20,6%, domestic refrigerator – 14,0%.
