Number of persons engaged in economy and salaries
For the state of October 1, 2019 number of employees engaged in the country economy compared to the corresponding period of the previous year increased by 5.6 percent and made 1639.1 thousand person and 909.5 thousand of them were the employees of the public sector and 729.6 thousand person were the employees of the nonpublic sector.
20.2 percent of employees were engaged in education, 17.8 percent in trade; repair of transport means, 13.3 percent in industry, 8.2 percent in health and social services provided to population, 7.6 percent in construction, 6.9 percent in public administration and defence; social security, 4.6 percent in transport and warehouse, 3.4 percent in professional, scientific and technical activity, 3.3 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 1.7 percent in finance and insurance and 13.0 percent in other fields of economy.
In January-September 2019 average monthly nominal salary of employees engaged in the country economy compared to the corresponding period of the previous year increased by 11.7 percent and made 603.5 manats.
In September 2019, the average monthly salary of the country reached 723.4 AZN that, it is 35.8% more than in September last year and 21.6% more than in August of the current year, as a result of the increase in the amount of minimum monthly salary in the country to 250 AZN since 1 September as a result of complex social reforms implemented by the relevant orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, significant increase in the salaries of civil servants, employees of a number of state budget-funded institutions, enterprises and organizations, the state oil company, in this regard, increase in the salaries of employees in the private sector and acceleration of transparency processes in this field.
