According to the State Border Service data, on January-April 2019 Azerbaijan received from 170 countries of the world 848.4 thousand or 0.1 percent more foreigners and stateless persons compared with the January-April 2018. 29.8 percent of the arrivals were from Georgia, 11.1 percent - Turkey, 8.0 percent - Iran, 3.8 percent the United Arab Emirates, per 1.8 percent – Ukraine and India, 1.4 percent – Pakistan, 1.3 percent - Iraq, 16.6 percent were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 69.5 percent of the arrivals were men and 30.5 percent were women.

There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors in January-April among Egypt (2.2 times), Saudi Arabia (1.9 times), India (1.8 times), Turkmenistan (1.8 times), China (1.6 times), Japan (37.1 percent), Canada (31.8 percent), Pakistan (28.8 percent), Georgia (22.6 percent), Poland (20.8 percent) and South Korea (20.5 percent) citizens.

On January-April 2019, the number of arrivals from EU members increased by 7.0 percent and amounted to 34.2 thousand, from Gulf countries it decreased by 27.5 percent and amounted to 142.9 thousand, and from the CIS countries decreased by 1.0 percent and amounted to 282.0 thousand persons.

61.1 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 38.1 percent - air and 0.8 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-April 2019 increased by 26.9 percent compared to the correspondent period of the previous year and amounted 1636.4 thousand persons. 39.2 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 27.2 percent - Georgia, 18.3 percent - Russian Federation, 9.7 percent - Turkey, 5.6 percent to other countries. 66.6 percent of the travelers were men and 33.4 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 79.7 percent, Georgia – by 10.6 percent, Russian Federation – by 6.0 percent, Turkey – 1.2 percent.

In January-April 2019, 83.7 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 15.4 percent - air and 0.9% - water transport.
