According to the State Border Service data, on January-March 2019 Azerbaijan received from 157 countries of the world 610.8 thousand or 2.9 percent less foreigners and stateless persons compared with the January-March 2018. 28.0 percent of the arrivals were from Georgia, 27.4 percent - the Russian Federation, 11.3 percent - Turkey, 9.2 percent - Iran, 3.5 percent the United Arab Emirates, 1.8 percent - Ukraine, 1.7 percent – India, 1.4 percent - Iraq, 15,6 percent were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 70.1 percent of the arrivals were men and 29.9 percent were women.

There has been a significant decrease in the number of visitors compared with the same period of previous year among Qatar (48.5 percent), Iran (43.4 percent), Israel (41.7 percent), United Arab Emirates (28.1 percent) and Iraq (24.8 percent) citizens.

Besides, the number of visitors increased among Egypt (2.3 times), India (1.8 times), Saudi Arabia (1.8 times), Turkmenistan (1.6 times), Pakistan (1.5 times), China (46.1 percent), Japan (32.5 percent), Georgia (22.9 percent) and Oman (17.4 percent) citizens.

On January-March 2019, the number of arrivals from EU members increased by 2.8 percent and amounted to 19.1 thousand, and from the Gulf countries decreased by 33.1 percent and amounted to 106.8 thousand persons and CIS countries it decreased by 1.1 percent and amounted to 202.3 thousand persons.

64.0 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 35.2 percent - air and 0.8 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January-March 2019 increased by 28.9 percent compared to the correspondent period of the previous year and amounted 1215.7 thousand persons. 66.5 percent of the travelers were men and 33.5 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 84.2 percent, Georgia – 12.7 percent, Russian Federation – by 7.4 percent, Turkey – by 3.0 percent.

In January-March of current year 83.6 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 15.6 percent - air and 0.8 percent - water transport.
