According to the State Border Service data, on January 2019 Azerbaijan received from 143 countries of the world 191.6 thousand or 2.9 percent more foreigners and stateless persons compared with the January 2018. 29.4 percent of the arrivals were from the Russian Federation, percent 29.1 - Georgia, 11.2 percent - Turkey, 5.4 percent -Iran, 4.5 percent the United Arab Emirates, 1.7 percent - Ukraine, 1.3 percent - Iraq, 17,3 percent were citizens of other countries and 0.1 percent were stateless people. 71.1 percent of the arrivals were men and 28.9 percent were women.

There has been a significant decrease in the number of visitors in January among Egypt (4.5 times), Pakistan (2.0 times), Turkmenistan (1.7 times), India (1.4 times), China (26.5 percent), Georgia (21.9 percent), South Korea (15.2 percent) citizens.

However compared to the same period of previous year visitors from Gulf countries decreased by 13.3 % amounted 28.5 thousand person.

On January 2019, the number of arrivals from EU members increased by 0.9 percent and amounted to 5.8 thousand, and from the CIS countries decreased by 0.2 percent and amounted to 67.2 thousand persons.

63.8 percent of foreigners and stateless persons who came to our country used railway and automobile, 35.4 percent - air and 0.8 percent - water transport.

The number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan going abroad in January 2019 increased by 19.3 percent compared to the correspondent period of the previous year and amounted 357.1 thousand persons. 35.0 percent of the country citizens traveled to Iran, 28.0 percent - Georgia, 20.9 percent - Russian Federation, 10.2 percent - Turkey, 1.2 percent - Ukraine, 1.1 percent - United Arab Emirates, 3.6 percent to other countries. 68.1 percent of the travelers were men and 38.1 percent were women.

During this period, the number of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan traveling to Iran increased by 75.2 percent Russian Federation – by 6.5 percent, Georgia – by 2.5 percent, Turkey – 2.6 percent.

In January 2019, 81.9 percent of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited foreign countries using railway and automobile, 17.3 percent - air and 0.8% - water transport.
