In 2018 legal and natural entities of the Republic of Azerbaijan realized trade operations with their partners in 185 countries of the world, goods were exported to 113 countries and imported from 178 countries.

Taking into account value of statistically estimated exported crude oil and natural gas registered in the customs agencies but customs formalities of which not completed the foreign trade turnover of the country in 2018 made 31755.9 million USD, including export value – 20290.9 million USD, import value – 11465.0 million USD and consequently positive trade balance reached to 8825.9 million USD. In comparison with 2017 foreign trade turnover increased in actual price by 30.9%, including export – 31.1% and import – 30.5%. In real terms trade turnover increased by 0.5%, including export - by 0.6% and import – 0.2%.

According to the State Customs Committee data, 30.2% of export value was formed based on goods exported to Italy, 9.4% - Turkey, 6.7% - Israel, 4.8% - Czech Republic, 4.2% - India, 4.0% - Germany, 3.7% - Taiwan (province of China), 3.4% - Russia, per 3.1% - Canada and Indonesia, 2.7% - Portugal, 2.5% - Georgia, 2.3% - France, 2.0% - Spain and the rest 17.9% - other countries.

16.4% of total value of goods imported to our country was per the share of Russia, 13.8% - Turkey, 10.4% - China, 5.8% - Germany, 4.6% - USA, 4.5% - Switzerland, 4.1% - Ukraine, 3.6% - Iran, 3.3% - Japan, 3.0% - Italy, 2.3% - United Kingdom, 28.2% - other countries.

In 2018 non-oil products in amount of 1689.2 million US dollars have been exported and that is more in actual price for 9.8% and real terms for 1.0% relatively to 2017.

In 2018 compared to 2017 export of main types of products like fresh fruit increased by 22.4%, fresh vegetable – 1.6%, potato – 15.6%, vegetable oils – 14.2%, fruit and vegetable cans – 12.2%, natural grape wine and cellar – 1.8 times, margarine, other mixtures fit for food – 5.2%, cotton yarn - 2.4 times, polyethylene – 5.1%, unprocessed aluminum – 9.4%, cotton fibre – 35.0%, while export of sugar decreased by 28.0%, tobacco – 9.0%, fruit and vegetable juice – 22.2%, tea – 21.2%, ferrous metal pipes – 2.3%, semi-finished ferrous metals – 49.8%, bentonite clay – 11.5%.

In 2018 compared to 2017 import of cigarette increased by 2.2%, fresh fruit – 42.2%, poultry meat and its additional products – 32.0%, ferrous metal pipes – 1.6 times, motor cars – 2.3 times, ferrous metal rods – 45.9%, mineral fertilizers – 1.6 times, furniture – 24.0%, computing machinery, blocks and installations – 42.8%, polyethylene – 13.6%, domestic air conditioners – 39.6%, washing machine – 10.8%, trucks – 1.9 times, ferrous metal corners – 7.0%, busses – 1.6 times, cement and cement clinker – 36.2%, domestic refrigerator – 52.1 times, while wheat import decreased by 15.2%, vegetable oil – 0.8%, raw sugar and sugar – 35.2%, butter, other milk fats and pastas – 12.3%, tea – 4.6%, potato – 5.7%, beef – 10.0%, fresh vegetable – 41.3%, steel rolling – 11.4%, rubber tyres – 13.7%,
